Why are we so hateful toward other teams? Even when those teams have little too no influence on our personal choice Teams or clubs I hated or teams I liked or have enjoyed watching. Loved watching Liverpool.....not so much now. Loved England games..........don`t watch them now until Finals then I go back to not watching again. The only team I really dislike is Charlton. I live near loads of them and they are all without exception in experience bitter, nasty c***ish people. The rest of it is the usual football rivalry / banter which you get caught up in / go a long with but Charlton I loathe them

I don't hate any team and find the concept rather silly. I'm sure that every team has it's idiot supporters including Palace and whilst one can dislike individuals I think it's daft to hate the whole club.

I used to give Charlton the benefit of the doubt on the basis you suggest, but bitter experience of matchdays, talking to them and reading about them has made me change my mind. They don't just have a few idiot supporters... they are utterly infested with them and idiocy is endemic within the very fabric/DNA of the club. First off - their refusal to acknowledge we (as a club) did them a favour and stopped their club going out of business by allowing them to play at Selhurst and both our clubs were ripped off by Noades. Second - how many times have we been to the Valley of Death and their bonehead stewards have shut all but one turnstyle and insisted upon heavy handed frisking of every Palace fan thereby causing hostility and disruption ensuring most of our support gets into the ground late. That is just blatant nasty behaviour designed to cause friction and a reason to ban tolerant law abiding supporters who just want to watch their team play for 90 minutes in peace. Third - The disgraceful conga around the Valley of Death by almost all of the supporters when we were relegated after the 2-2 draw in May 2005. Fourth - The ridiculous "poaching" of Iain Dowie as their manager after leaving us by mutual consent with compensation "to go back home to his family in the north". Even their Directors hate us enough to embark on petty point scoring. Fifth - The punching of Kayla the Eagle by one of their supporters. Sixth - the cowardly attacks on innocent travellers on the tube trains by their hooligan fans who were so stupid they didn't realise they were being filmed. Enough... you should be getting the message... all clubs (including ourselves) have a lunatic fringe and at times disgrace the club they support - but Charlton have made an art of it... I think Millwall have more class than Charlton.

Brighton because its fun. Millwall because its fun. Charlton because I've been to Eltham. I quite like the fact that Brighton is an entirely fabricated rivalry really, to make both clubs more 'interesting', it fits my love of the absurd. Millwall, I think its more because a lot of other fans I know have to live in or around Millwall fans - So it makes sense. Its not really so much of an issue for me as I don't. Growing up, I hated Liverpool and later Man Utd because of their fans around me, who had never even been to a football match, and would likely now all be Chelsea fans (and claim to have been all their lives). At my school, there were more Man Utd / Liverpool fans than Reading or Oxford. Sunderland - When I was at University, my girlfriend spent a year at Sunderland, and I occasionally had to go and visit her (usually I'd pay for her ticket to come to me as the place was a f**king hole). F**king horrible blight on the face of humanity. People I knew at University who were from there, seriously considered being homeless to moving back.

Personally I don't dislike any team, well the players anyway, now the fans that something else. I like watching a good hearty match, a few goals then all the players shake hands and trot off to the dressing room for a well earned cup of tea and a jammy dodger. Its some of the fans of the teams that I cannot stand .... with there shirts off in -20c weather, fat belly, bowl type hair cuts and a non shaven face. Oh for jollier times, jumpers for goal posts, black boots and smile on the face of the managers. But then again I did go to woodstock... Enough of that shi** .. come you Palace and stuff the goners tonight. That better now its out of my system.

There are a few I don't really like (Ashley Young, Joey Barton, that buck-toothed geezer that used to play for Liverpool and going back a bit, Eric Cantona). It's the fans for me as well. And the chairman in the case of Dover Athletic.

I sometimes think the "hate" thing for other teams is a fashion. People can be very sheep-like and tag on to the prevailing dislikes of any moment without any logical reasoning behind it. What I do dislike ( hate is perhaps too stronger word) are some of the supporters of big clubs who have sense of entitlement and sneer at "smaller" clubs. That's why it is so enjoyable to beat the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal and rub their noses in their own smugness. The Brighton thing is interesting. Although there had been some shenanigans before, it was really the 1976 FA cup 2nd replay at Stamford Bridge which was the catalyst for the rivalry. However, a lot of Palace fans aren't even aware of this, so their dislike of Brighton is just a case of following what has now become an ingrained tradition without any knowledge of its source. In fact for me it is Mullery who is the devil incarnate rather than Brighton.

I dislike Brighton fans more now than I did when we used to play them regularly. Back then the rivalry was mainly based on results and a number of fans from both sides kicking lumps out of each other and coming away claiming they won. Now Brighton fans want it to be about who has the more comfortable seats or who fecked over the least number of creditors. Obviously this has nothing to do with the fact that recently we have been in a higher division than them and when we have been in the same division, Palace's record is pretty impressive.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Who could be so bone-headed that they get a season ticket and go to football matches week in week out despite having zero interest in or understanding of football but just because they've been told that it's a requirement for someone born into your part of society and you're supposed to be there because if you don't go you're a social outcast and a pariah and worse people might think you're a Protestant? Answer: 90% of Celtic fans. And they're as dense as neutronium.

Probably why i don't really give a toss about them. However they hate for our club with no real reason does get annoying. I used to work in Bermondsey so would encounter Millwall fans who were at times such t***s! For me in terms of London clubs i only really hate the Wall and Chelsea (countless chelsea where i live and again a lot of them are complete t***s!)
