If we're on the lookout for a new keeper in the summer? Sunderland obviously going down, Sam will know him well and he's a good young English keeper who couild our goalkeeper for years. Might be setting his heights a little higher than us, but worth testing the water? Could offer WH as part of the deal.

I thought this myself, however, when Sunderland go down. he will be the idea keeper for them. I can't see him wanting to leave to sit on the bench at Palace. I think he's a bit young to hold down a no. 1 shirt. I know he's doing that at Sunderland but they don't have a choice. The experience he's gaining now, will do wonders for him and so will being first choice in a Championship side. If he does want to leave, we should go in for him though.

He'll be off like a shot and to a bigger club than palace. You really think he'd sit on the bench at palace?

He's one of the best keepers in the Premiership. No way will he be playing in the Championship next season. Arsenal, Chelsea and City all apparently interested. Palace have little hope of signing. But maybe the Sam connection can pull a rabbit out the bag 🐰

What makes you think he'll be on the bench for Palace? Mandanda looks likely he'll be off, and we could offer WH as part of the deal to help them get back up. Good keeper as back up in Jules to learn off. If he's setting his heights higher than Palace, he might find himself on the bench more often than not. Edited by Stuart Shave (09 Apr 2017 2.49pm)

Well, Hennessey is going nowhere soon, he has improved under Allardyce and the manager has confidence in him. I think Pickford, as much as I like him, is still a prospect. I remember Kasper Schmicheal playing a good run of games for Man City under Sven. Some amazing performances but he was young. No doutb the experiance was great for him. I can't see him leaving Sunderland anytime soon.. Unless Sunderland want to off load him but I think that would be silly as he can't be on a massive wage and he would be ideal to help get back up. If he was available I would certainly go for him.. If we could get him. Sam does know the player as well.

Mate played with him in the academy. Nickname was sparky because he was absolutely mental. Super hyperactive and apparently a massive prankster says he is genuinely a pretty nice bloke as well.

A few weeks ago I would've thought Pickford could certainly supplant Hennessey. Not so sure now though.

we dont need a new keeper. wayne is class ( ive always said this ) and mandanda is also decent enough. plus...he will have much better offers than us anyway, he will go to a top 6 club and play 2nd fiddle for a few years earning a fortune.

No, that would kill his career, he will want to play. Every player wants to play. He will learn nothing sitting on the bench and he won't have to in order to earn his money. Sunderland is the best place for him right now.

I think we'd all be moved if we got Pickford.
