Not dead Accidentally announced as such though! Quote
BBC Radio 2 broadcaster Brian Matthew is critically ill, the station has clarified after initially announcing his death. The BBC had originally been informed by a member of Matthew's family that he had died. A spokesman for the corporation said: "We were informed by close family and friends that Brian had passed away in the night. "They have since been in contact to say that he remains critically ill." The statement added: "We will update with more information when we have it. Our thoughts remain with his family at this very difficult time." Matthew presented his last full show last November, returning in February for a final compilation programme. He had presented the show since April 1990.
"It's almost like a moral decision. Except not really cos noone is going to find out," Jez, Peep Show |

Shame he is in a bad way. I hardly missed a minute of SOTS from the very first show in 1990 till he briefly handed over to Tim Rice then was replaced permanently by Tony Blackburn a few weeks back. Lets hope he pulls through bless him. Edited by Hoof Hearted (06 Apr 2017 11.08am)

They wanna make their minds up. Is he, or isn't he? He's looked fairly dead for a while now.....
Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers |

He really has gone this time. RIP Brian..... Saturday mornings will never be the same again. Tony Blackburn does his best but Tim Rice would have been the better long term replacement for Matthews in my opinion.

Sadly I have insomnia due to Parkinsons so hear all of the radio 2 schedule through the night till I get out of bed about 8.30am. They have replaced all live shows with Playlists of different genres and repeats of some popular shows they've recorded. I guess the BBC budget is stretched due to the freeze of the licence fee and their refusal to cut jobs in middle management and reduce salaries for people like Gary Lineker, Claire Balding and Graham Norton who are all overpaid with little obvious talent to entertain.
