The missus has booked us in for two nights next weekend as a base for taking her sight seeing and seeing Space play on Saturday night in Brixton.

I've had a look on Trip Advisor & it sounds, ermm, interesting, to say the least.

Has anyone stayed there before and is it as much of a sh*thole as a lot of the reviews state?

I heard that it's a convenient dumping ground used by the local authority for asylum seekers.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

It's awful. Lived in CP for many years, which is a nice enough area. But that hotel, it seems to be contract workers (foreign and otherwise) 5 to a room, bunk beds. Don't know about asylum seekers, but if there are, they'll cram them in the same way, or worse. It is awful. And sadly he only decent alternative is one of the fairly pricey B&Bs.

I read that on one of the reviews, along with a security team in kevlar stab proof vests.

I spent time working in there some years back when I was with BT , the Hotel had a very old part where they used to put DHS and asylum seekers , the new section as it was then always seemed to be OK

Cheers mate.

After reading the reviews I called them and paid £20 to upgrade to the refurbished room for the two nights.

There is no telling some people.
It really is a dump fully of Asylum Seekers and you have paid an extra £20 to stay in a room less s***e than the others.

I hope its cheap. The Croydon Park Hotel can be a nice alternative. Bit pricier, but on the weekend there are often good deals.

Bit late for that now I guess, but I got Valentines Weekend, with meal and champagne, at the CPH for 149 for two nights (and got to go and see Palace play Villa in the cup).

Much nicer.

Sometimes I set out for Ludlow
Sometimes I end up in Chepstow

Would honestly rather stay in the Travel Lodge (or is it Premier in) on Croydon Road in Anerley and if you do want to go to (otherwise much nicer) SE19, get one of about half a dozen buses going that way.

One thing Crystal Palaces misses is an even halfway decent hotel. The other one on Church road (is it Palace Tower?) is not really any better.
