Having viewed this several times was certainly not a dive does the ref have the option to review his decision and cancel the card

Really poor decision. You know it's a really bad decision when even Shearer is saying its bad.

Why can you get red cards overturned but not yellows? You can't even argue it's because a red is more impactful because if you get 2 wrong yellows in a game you get a red and that red can't be contested. That's just odd. Either referee's decision is final or you can appeal all cards. Everyone knows it was the wrong decision but now we could be without McCarthur at a crucial game towards the end of the season because if this yellow.

Do Referee Assessors not have a role to play in this when sending in their match reports ? If blatantly wrong decisions in respect of disciplinary actions cannot be corrected then what is the point in having an Assessor in the first place ? The referee on Saturday was so poor in respect of his decision making that it was embarrassing but, Assessor or not, nothing will be done about it.

Willo will tell you that the ref will be forensically assessed (whatever that means), told he had a great game and probably given a bonus! Cant have refs being told theyre useless can we?
