How many points do we need to stay up. I don't mean the mathematical total,I mean the likely number of points. Just had a quick look and I reckon we could stay up with 35 or 36.

As a guide from last season after 26 games (the amount we have played now) the bottom four looked like this. Bottom four at the end of the season was. 17 Sunderland 38 39 Now it is after 26 games. (If Leic. lose v L'Pool). 17 Crystal Palace 26 22 So this season 17th,18th & 19th have less points this season than last. So 38 would almost sure keep you up, As 'daven' said even 35 or 36, especially if the bottom clubs kept together without a club drifting away.
The pyramid to beat all pyramids!! Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in? |

I agree.don't think it'll take 40 points to stay up. I also think that we will beat one of the big boys. 35 or 36 sounds about right.

I see 36 points even if we do well so it will be close. we need three other teams to do worse. Seasons usually show 1 or 2 bottom-feeders rallying - we need to be one of those. Surely Sunderland will finally concede PL defeat. Middlesbrough look in trouble, so do Leicester and Hull. We've bought well and the new transfers look promising. With growing confidence and time playing together, this team could easily become the form team of the final rounds. With Luka in the midfield and that beast Sahko in defence, with Zaha stepping up a level and Townsend trying his best, and now with PVA scoring and playing well on the left and competing with Schlupp, all the holes have been plugged and I am hoping that our season started against Middlesbrough. COYP!

Lots more surprises I expect but home games versus Burnley ,Hull ,and Leicester could yield 9pts which would make 37.Three cup finals

I think 38 will be the safety mark. Not sure if we can get there, but if the team keep their concentration then we stand a good chance. Gotta love the CPFC roller coaster - way more interesting than mid table mediocrity <g>

I very much doubt it will be as simple as this because nothing ever is with Palace. Beat Leicester, Burnley and Hull and we stay up. Suspect we'll lose to one of them though and we'll probably end up getting points we didn't expect to get!

Well after looking at all the teams remaining fixtures I believe 34 points with the goal difference will be enough to stay up this season but most certainly 35 will be enough. As it stands Sunderland need 15 points from 10 games only won 5 all season Middlesbrough need 13 points from 10 games only won 4 all season Hull need 11 points from 9 games only won 6 all season Swansea need 9 points from 9 games won 8 games all season Palace need 6 points from 10 games won 8 games all season All the above will need to finish 1 point more than palace due to goal difference so hence based them on 35 points and us on 34 points. If we get 2 more wins and 1 draw or 3 wins we will stay up. Remember this post
