1st half we were excellent, on the front foot, creative and organised defensively. Deservedly ahead and a solid performance.

However I really don't get why we sat back immediately from the start of the 2nd half, it was a complete contrast. I'm not moaning, just stating what me and others around saw, and perhaps we were a bit lucky to come away with 3 pts. Ramirez and Stuani both had the best chances of the game and luckily missed both.

Not a moan post, just feel as though we need to start attacking teams at the start of the second half of games. At Stoke there was no response and today we seemed to want to sit back and protect the lead. I think its a bit of nerves but if we sort that out I think we'll be alright.

UTP and on to West Brom!!

Dont let Cabaye go

I disagree to an extent...think we were trying to hit them on the break second half as they came forward more. They never really looked like scoring today and thought defensively we were sound

Boro sorted out one of their problems at half time: In the first half Negredo was s***e - never in the box for the set pieces or balls coming in, so they dumped him and put Gestede on. Now Gestede is also pretty pony but he got into the right places which Negredo never did and gave Ramirez and Stuani scope to operate. So in the second half they were harder to deal with. In the latter part of the game we were pressurised into sitting deep and hoofing it up the park, we looked a lot better with Sakho and Milevojevic taking control and spraying the ball around through the midfield instead of just letting Boro bring it back to us. Dunno if taking Cabaye off might have been a factor but Allardyce was right to shore up the defence - as someone pointed out Pardew's answer would probably have been Campbell.

And I don't know why they didn't bring their secret weapon - we would all have trembled in fear if we had seen Bumfluff warming up. Wouldn't we?

Thought it was more nervous than woeful. Should have had one nailed on penalty and possibly two, which would have calmed things gown a bit.

Not if Benteke did what he did last time.

We went at them straight from the off in the second half though... they just grew into the half as the positional changes came into effect. Give the team some slack, like me I'd imagine most of us were nervous towards the end of the game, just imagine how much more so the players would have been. We've had so many results stolen late from us, they did what was asked of them, got a result even we it wasn't always pretty.

I expect you want Pardew back and go all out attack, then get picked off on the break.
Getting a result was all that mattered, that wouldn't of entered Pardews head.

I was watching on a stream and for a long period during the second half we were defensively very nervous and kept giving the ball away with silly short passes. Sakho, who made a real difference today, even caught it for a moment, then steadied the ship.

Lot better 1st half, but today I thought we were comfortable at the back. Never thought they'd score

Could have been 2-0 had Townsend put that easy chance away in the last 5 mins.
