Odd interview! 'I want to clear up that I didn't want silly money... Although I did want quite a lot of money.'

I didn't realise he was 25, thought he would have got the hint that Arsenal don't want him anymore

Seems reasonable to me. He is contracted until 2020 with Arsenal. If he came to Palace on roughly the same money he would face a 40% pay cut after only 5 months of regular football if we get relegated. I think in hindsight most people would wait for a better opportunity!

Depends how much you actually want to play football? Plus it should be a decrease in wages if we go down, only right, incentive to get stuck in and make a difference.

Someone should have advised him to keep his trap shut. It rarely pays to air dirty washing.

"We'll pay you what you're currently getting and would like you to come and give your all for us. However, if it doesn't work out (and it probably won't) .... we'll cut your wages by 40% in June." Hmmm .... if THAT was really the offer it doesn't sound too appealing!

It was the relegation clause that did it but he would still have been on around £30k/week in the Championship so not the end of the world.
