As per usual Nick; you RIGHTLY pick up on the deficiencies of this hypocritical, self-serving Government...much like their predecessors. Very much the culture of 'do as we say , not as we do'.

Oh yes, I remember, the Syrian 'children' - exclusively male with facial hair and deep voices.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

Doesn't matter if they're children or adults. They are all refugees.

Doesn't matter if they're children or adults. They are all refugees. And there are plenty of countries in the Middle East who could take them. How about Qatar? The are spending billions on the World Cup and they need some people to fill the stadiums. It is outrageous that other countries in the region won't help them when they are so oil rich.

From the previous article in the Independant [Link] the government had promised to take in 3,000 by 2020. In their latest article they say "The statement from Immigration Minister Robert Goodwill said local authorities indicated “have capacity for around 400 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children until the end of this financial year” " So 400 until the end of March. Plenty of time to bring in the other 2,600 within the next 3 years without wetting ones knickers just yet. Move along. Nothing to see here.
You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name. |

Doesn't matter if they're children or adults. They are all refugees. It matters when we are told they are children and it's quite clear (to anyone but the home office) that they are not. If we are told we are taking refugees then fine I don't have a problem. But if you tell us we are taking child refugees and clearly they are adult men aged between 20-35 then I get the hump. The public don't like being lied to. At least I don't anyway.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

As for the public don't like being lied to? Why do they watch the news or read papers then?
