SSN reporting that the planned player's 4 day break in Dubai next week has been cancelled at the insistence of our U.S. shareholders.

Right or wrong?

I get the whole 'team bonding' idea but reckon they'd be better off moving into the training ground for a few days.

Interesting that you create a thread, select the header, put the link in, but clearly haven't read it properly ;

Sky sources understand Parish, along with majority shareholders, American businessmen Joshua Harris and David Blitzer, vetoed a warm weather four-day break to Dubai, planned after Palace's match at Stoke this weekend.

I doubt it.

Look, if Sam thought it was right they go then i think they go. If he doesn't then they don't.

There are a few factors why they're not going other than it looks bad and encourages a furious reaction from fans.

4 new signings.

Sakho isn't fit and arguably none of them match prem teams' fitness.

Bonding with the above fitness in mind should be done working without a match to prepare for.

We might edge some points on the teams who've relaxed a bit in Dubai. Remember West Ham at home? Them all guns blazing and us with that man's relaxed it'll be fine approach yet again?

There's deep problems at our's. Dubai won't solve them. What we need is one of those huge performances MOTD stroke themselves silly over. Well 3 of them actually.

Apparently Dubai has a few nights on the p1ss. We need determination and guts, not get to know each other before p1ssing off for other clubs after bottling the lap of shame in the penultimate match.

Actually Nobby, ignore me. I'm just being s***ty.

I think that ' the Yanks ' are probably unimpressed with Parish as much as the players right now

I don't know about that. It seems there's been some soul searching and player meetings in groups and between pairs ironing issues out.

They must realise this sh1t doesn't warrant a break in the sun and there's sh1t to address and if not then all Dubai will be will be a farewell jog about, sunbathe, swim, golf swing and jäger bomb contest.

There's a long thread on this on the BBS. Pretty much torn down the middle.

There's also a good thread on 'where did it all unravel' and that's a very good thread.

Shock horror .... the jolly to Dubai has been cancelled and they're required to put in some extra hours to overcome their "stage fright". My heart bleeds for them!

If Parish saw fit to go into the dressing room to talk to the players, I've no doubt he'd veto this holiday on his own initiative. No reason to think the Americans were the main decision-makers.

Let them have their trip to Dubai but only if we stay up then the whole squad can go for a two week holiday

Depends on what works. If in a managers experience a break like this can make a difference then why not go. Our team is desperately in need of team bonding. They're not playing well together, and have I assumed been training as normal all season. A break from 'reality' and the pressure might make sense.

Or were even consulted at all. Parish runs the club and whether the team have a break in Dubai or not is hardly the stuff for a full board meeting

I'm much of the same mind. I do get the desire to not provide a reward for recent performances, but a few days away, if properly handled, might just be the kick-start we need.
