In today's (Feb 7, 2017) issue of the South London Press, our Action Replay column heralds the start of a regular new series looking back at how much the game has changed in so many ways – not always for the better, we hasten to add – and also what many of us miss from the 'olden days'. Over the coming weeks we'll be dusting off the cobwebs and recalling the many things that made our long-lost youthful days as a supporter so special, or at least what we thought seemed good at the time. In this Tuesday's paper, subjects we cover include: So please buy a copy of the paper and get in touch with your own memories and thoughts on what you miss about football's past. You can email columnist Tony McDonald at slpactionreplay@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you...

I recall rattles ! And programmes which used to contain the 'Football League Review' in the middle. And the days when one used to tie scarves to one's wrist. And when teams used to come on to the pitch before the game separately so one would cheers ones team to the rafters whilst affording the 'Away' team a less than cordial welcome !

All that sweeping of peanut shells on the Holmesdale Terrace after the game ! Those days when one could walk from Whitehorse to Holmesdale and vice versa to be behind the goal we were attacking ! And those darned bog rolls from Holmesdale toilets being thrown on to the pitch. And of course the claret and blue walking sticks. Edited by Willo (15 Feb 2017 6.12pm)

"Knees up mother Brown" on the Holmesdale terrace with supporters plummeting down the steps and some into the barriers. Bloody dangerous. Not forgetting that grass bank at the back of the Holmesdale.
