CPFC is renowned for the wholehearted support of it's team through good times and bad. We are renowned as the loudest, noisiest most supportive fans in the league. As a season ticket holder, I attend all home matches and watch away matches on telly compliments of Amazon Firestick. Even when we play away - it's our fans that you can hear singing above the oppositions fans - so why doesn't that support translate positively at home? I was ashamed our players were booed yesterday - even though they conceded extremely sloppy goals. We had the majority of possession, but looked really nervous and uncomfortable on the ball. The players didn't play with the tenacity of a team facing relegation with the exception of Wilf in the first half and Remy and Townsend in the second. Why doesn't our support help to raise their game? Are they intimidated by the level of support at home and fear that they can't deliver? They're obviously extremely mentally fragile and booing them doesn't help one bit - no matter how disappointed we are in their performance.

I actually think that's something of a myth. We have a drum and some blokes droning away in a corner, largely with material that most of the rest of the ground either doesn't know or join in with. And we have a group at the back of the Arthur, who do a sterling job of trying to keep the 'classics' alive. The rest of the ground is pretty much like anyone else's.

As for away games on TV/radio, much of the apparent superiority of away supporter noise comes from the way stands are miked up, generally favouring the away area. If you are actually at an away game, amongst our support, then quite obviously it will be the loudest. It could only be judged in relative terms from a more neural area.

Agree - historically we've always been a counter attacking side. We definitely lack ideas and composure going forward against a side that keeps it's shape and defends well when playing away from home at Selhurst. We seem to lack the guile to break them down and often give the ball away too easily and then get caught by a counter attack ourselves! ALL the players need to realise we can't afford to give the ball away so cheaply and how important it is to work hard when out of possession. Importantly the side has got to turn up and put a full shift in as well - working hard, tackling back and making themselves available, rather than being shy and off loading the ball as soon as possible then walking (a la Puncheon)! We seem to play with more intensity away from home - but the fact that we're historically a counter attacking side - can't be the only reason? We have to produce a better performance against Stoke away and at the next home game against Middlesbrough - I'm fearful that the players will lose the support of the home fans and urge other fans not to boo - it's now that the team NEEDS our support most!
