This evening I got in touch with how I really feel about the result today. (It is still only 11pm here in San Francisco.). What feelings do we all have at this time? Humiliation? Anger? Frustration? Fear? Palace has been part of my family since 1905 at the beginning. And now we're tearing apart. The boos, the anger, the derisory chants. However, when you look at the situation or apportion blame there is one quality we mustn't forget. Compassion. Tonight as I was ruminating I felt the pain that the players must be feeling. OK so they were awful, but they are also human. Each one is trying hard but it's agony to keep trying and time after time screwing up. And Sam was genuinely 'shocked' too. He was shaken to his core. And of course all of us fans in varying degrees can't get the nightmare six minutes meltdown out of our heads. I'm a great believer in the cliche the truth will set you free but sometimes that truth is almost unbearable. It's during this hellish time of being a Palace fan, Chairman, Manager, Player that we all need to be compassionate toward each other and look to how we can support each other and not eviscerate and emasculate those we think are responsible for the nightmare. We can get through this together and not as finger pointing haters.

It's been coming and it happened on a grand scale yesterday. There are no excuses for what happened on the pitch but it was wholly attributable to the group of lightweights dressed in our colours. Shame on them but it's time to move on. Hopefully, most of them will sooner rather than later.

Sadly we are where we are because we are not good enough. I believe the players try but they are not good enough. Nor is the manager. And yesterday very sadly the fans threw in the towel. I stayed to the end but I was in the minority. The place was 50% empty. In the second half our heart had gone. Everyone in the homesdale was stunned. I'm sur it was the same all round the ground. So what next? I really don't know. I think relegation is almost certain. Departure of most of the squad also seems likely in that event. If it were me I would get a fresh young face as manager. SA brand of football is dire and clearly does not suit our players.
The second half it was like the players played their own way and played some good stuff but not nearly god enough. SA looks totally depressed and beaten. His tactics are not working at all.
The whole situation is a tragedy. All our hopes and dreams of top 10, refurb or new stadium all gone now. I think we are all shattered. In pieces.

Fingers crossed it's always darkest before the dawn. Everyone who's bought a ticket has a right to boo but in doing so they're making our own stadium a very difficult place to play in for our own players. Will it make them try harder or be more fearful? Time will tell. A lot riding on the unused signings.

Thanks guys. It's nice when you're in mourning to have a support group. Especially when you are stuck thousands of miles away with no one to talk to who understands what it is to be a major lifer Palace fan. It's also true, as Harry hinted at with his 'darkest before the dawn' comment, that history shows us how often a catastrophe is followed by a renaissance. The history of Palace is littered with two steps forward and one back, and look how far we've come since we languished in the lower divisions in the 60s. If we do fall this season we will rise again. The culture of Crystal Palace FC is too strong not to rebound. And we are part of that culture. So I am committing to keep the faith whatever happens over the next few weeks and months.

I was there for the whole game yesterday. I have not given up hope for Disney finish - when suddenly we go on an unbeaten run.

The players feel our disappointment. They left the field demoralised yesterday...even worse so than the Swansea game.

We can all rant and rave - but that is not going to help (feels good though).

Somehow we have find the enthusiasm to support the team. Players and managers will always come and go! That is the nature of the job they do. They get paid well - we know. But whatever happens - the club is the most important thing.

If we stay up fantastic - if we go down, then we rebuild.

Definitely - keep the faith. Remember what excitement and feelings , joy and disappointment we'll get in the championship. Hopefully with some of our younger players, with this bunch of spoilt millionaires well gone.
Would we have lost 3-4 with Pardew? maybe, and we'd have stayed to the end. I did anyway.

With the exception of Van Aanholt. Not ideal to be seen smiling and laughing given the performance and the situation we're in at full time.

Yesterday reminded me of 2000/2001, last match of the season, Alan Smith had taken us down, it had been a dire match and the Holmesdale faithful started throwing their (now empty) season ticket wallets onto the pitch.

The sense of despair that afternoon was so palpable that you could have cut it with a knife - just like yesterday. But, hey ho, down we went and yet again we rebuilt, had all the fun of something to play for - promotion rather than a European place - and had some good times again.

Not what anyone was hoping for, but the Palace roundabout completes another turn.
