The local media are already giving it their 'attention' and I can't really see the need to start anticipating problems before they've arisen.

It's more likely that local residents, rather than the planning department, will have objections, and it'll be for the council to decide what is reasonable or not.

Councils are obliged to consider planning applications against criteria they have previously published, in setting overall development plans for their area. If the pass a plan for Selhurst because of fan pressure which contravenes their own guidelines, objectors could appeal, and the Planning Inspectorate could overturn their decision.
And of course vice versa, if they turn down the clubs application without good reason, the club can appeal.
The council will have to look at size and architecture as they would for your or my house. But they have to look at much more besides: the impact on jobs, transport, environment ( pollution, wildlife).
The club are sensible (in my opinion) applying to extend the current ground, because they only have to deal with the impact of the extra seats, not the whole ground capacity as they would if a new location was being considered. They can probably promise a few more local jobs, and- because of the good public transport- not too much extra traffic pollution. Anyone sensible , and I think this management is, will have been sharing schemes and calculations with council officers beforehand so as to secure an officer recommendation 'to accept'.

In Parish's interview on HOL Radio he said the keen-eyed may spot the submission of an application, but he didn't give any details and the use of "keen-eyed" doesn't suggest any sort of major announcement or development. I suspect that they're going to have to deal with the accommodation of 100 disabled supporters as a priority, and anything else will be on the back-burner.

They've managed to accommodate at least 10,000 mentally disabled supporters since we got promoted. What's the problem?

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

The Stadium is improving slowly with the pitch showing the effects of the high quality work that has been done. I have been sampling the Main Stand for Cup Matches, and found that it compares both well (toilets and pre match & half time ambiance) and badly (space between next row of seats) with the Holmesdale Upper. The Stadium needs to welcome all, whether disabled or not. I await developments. COYP

Look what Chelsea and Tottenham have got going up. So where there is money and a will there is a way. Maybe we should wait now until we are more established and probably sold to a Chinese consortium with billions wanting to redevelop the old Crystal Palace and the park and build a 50,000 new stadium. .........erm haven't we been here before? Sounds to me like precious little is going down other than maybe us.
