With the addition of Jeffery Schlupp and potentially PVA + Zaha back from ACN.....it will give us much needed pace to penetrate teams !!!? Lets now see if we get in a RBK, CDM and a FWD before Tuesday!!!?

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I never thought that Zaha was particularly quick.

As a season ticket holder....I just think we are a bit slow on either flanks. I really like the system Chelsea play with 3 at the back....and Alonso/Moses as wing backs I know we would not have their quality....however I would have thought it would be effective with 10+ teams around us !!!? Zaha is quick....not rapid, but quick !!!

I think we need more mobility in the midfield. Too much standing like statues. Better when McArthur is there but Puncheon drives me mad with constantly turning backwards and Ledley is looking a bit static these days. Teams are bypassing our midfield too easily and we're not getting the ball out from the back four except by means of the old fashioned blooter up vaguely towards Benteke. Oh, and they're usually sitting too deep, too. Maybe this is just a mindset thing.

We need to get more energy in the midfield now. Look at the ages of our current options: Cabaye - 31 Whilst I wouldn't call them 'old', I think all apart from Puncheon seem to pick up injuries, knocks that force them to play a bit beneath themselves at times, they obviously don't heal as quick as they did when they were 25. We've seen Cabaye and McArthur brought off repeatedly at inopportune times late in the game. I thought against Everton that youngster Davies really got the better of McArthur in the types of battles he used to win. I don't think McArthur's ever fully recovered from that injury he suffered this time last year, he's no longer an 8/10 in every game, nowadays he might have a few 6's sandwiched in between 2 8/10's and then be injured for the next game. Cabaye, Flamini and Ledley are now becoming laughably slow and Cabaye and Ledley don't have the position awareness to make up for their lack of pace like Flamini or Jedinak used to.

Agree....I saw small shoots at Everton game where we're starting to show some solidity, fight, desire and energy....just need some pace and even better - end product in the opposing goal !!!?

Great point and has been glaring for months IMO. Puncheon's strengths have been finding himself half a yard, carrying the ball and getting a quality pass or shot off. Now he's hit 30 and lost a bit of zip he can't affect the game in the same way. MacArthur needs to play deeper than last week and should be the first choice midfield player.
