...Will "Die" tomorrow morning at 2.59AM.

Janice Long did her last ever show this morning....

[Link]

The link is to the BBC Radio iPlayer.... ffwd to 2hrs 55mins for her tearful goodbye before playing "Echo & The Bunnymen - Nothing Lasts Forever".

Alex Lester (AKA The Dark Lord) hosts the last ever show from Midnight tonight till 2.59AM.

Very sad personally to see the demise of this show.

Some of you know that I have Parkinson's which affects my ability to sleep, but I've always been an insomniac and have listened to the radio most of/all night more or less for decades... Janice and Alex have entertained me with brilliant music, live bands, quizzes etc.... I'm going to miss them both.

The BBC are cutting costs again, so will air repeated/recorded programmes from other shows.

If they wanted to save money they should sack Chris Evans and Vanessa Feltz.... both of which are sh1t/boring presenters and cause me to switch to Radio 4 at 5am until 9.30am when Ken Bruce comes on.

Agree with you. Very poor form from BBC Radio 2 to resort to such behaviour. And as if Vanessa Feltz is not enough of a trial to endure for one daily airing, there is now the chance of a repeat airing. BBC should be paying us the license fee!

Just refuse to buy one and tell the BBC that you are re-using last years'

I feel your pain as I too am a late night radio person. Albeit
Aussie programmes. These shows and presenters become like friends. I get frazzled when they even take time off. How dare they have holidays.

The good thing in my case is because of my life path and Apps like
Tune In I am constantly finding new stuff in all kinds of regional cubby holes in the UK Ireland Japan and Australia

Before I used to go to work a little bleary eyed. But these days I'm retired.

Incidently, back in the late eighties I presented a show on radio in
Alice Springs called After Midnight. Similar format. Music, discussion etc. it went for 4 hours. I used to take listener calls mainly from staff at the US military "listening" post Pine Gap.

Now that's what I call a quality recycling idea...much like the summer period TV listings.

I've been working nights for 18 years and have had Janice Long on all of the 17 years she's been doing the show and it was really sad last night, brought a lump to my throat when she was cracking up introducing her last ever track and reading her last social media compliments out!!

And spot on hoof about getting shot of Vanessa Feltz and Chris Evans instead!!

You would need ropes, crampons etc to get over her!

Whoops I was a tad premature.....

Mark Lester (AKA The Dark Lord) has 2 more sessions yet... midnight tonight and midnight tomorrow (Sunday morning till 2.59AM)

We've definitely heard the last from Janice Long after midnight though sadly!

Hope she makes a comeback as she is a top DJ and seems a lovely person... always liked her playlist.

Fair play to you Marc.... your a bit of a legend.

I love lying in bed listening to rock and indie style music.

I even phoned in at 2am for a competition to recognise a song ending (INXS - Need you tonight) and won a Dr John CD!
