I am a little worried about all of the media articles currently appearing supposedly emanating from Big Sam as they all appear to be spreading doom and gloom.

Headlines such as "Allardyce says Crystal Palace won't beat drop without more signings" and "Sam Allardyce fears Crystal Palace players not good enough" and even "Staff could lose jobs if Crystal Palace don't stay up" have all appeared within the last 24 hours and unless I am missing something are so negative that they must be damaging to our cause.

Pardew used to talk rubbish but whilst Allardyce may be telling the truth surely these are things better left unsaid and a more positive approach taken after all "We only need one or two new players to turn the corner" is far more positive than "Palace won't beat drop without more signings" even if they are effectively saying the same thing.

Our chairman is a PR expert so if there is a point to all this negativity it has passed me by as the only effect that I can see these headlines and quotes having is to put people off from signing for us

I quite like Sam's realism vs Pardew's delusions.

For me it's a refreshing change a bit of honesty after pardew lies and biggen up opponents. The fact that we had a terrible results for 13 months now there is a cronic problem at palace. One of the most successful manager since promotion was pulis he pressured the board then they delivered with important signings in the Jan window with Dann, hennessey, Ince and Joe ledley. Steve parish let his friendship with pardew ruin what we were known for team spirt, determination and effort. Sam has a big task on his hand but I believe if we can get a win this month potential targets will see us as a more attractive club to play for.

You need to read more than the headline.

So do I for seven out of the eight months of the season but January is the one month where we need positive PR to make people want to join us

I dont like it at all its bulls***

All the pundits have come out and said that Palace is the easiest task Fat Sam has had to date with the talent at his disposal. We have good players here I have seen them preform brilliantly on many occasions. Its his job to motivate them, make them believe in themselves and turn things around. He is covering his own arse now for what will be his failure if we go down. His pessimistic stance cannot be good for team moral.

I too am disappointed with his downbeat press conferences.

In the past he has not been short of a quip or two.

The team (and us) need a boost and a little lighter conversation would help.

Totally agree Sam needs to show confidence and belief in his players to get the best out of them saying they are not good enough for the Premier league is only going to demotivate them. Everyone needs encouragement and positive talk from their boss when things aren't going well. Maybe Simon Jordan had a point when he talked about our manager.

Sam is telling everyone exactly how it is, AP has left a real mess behind and yes you are correct I'm afraid SP has to accept some of the blame for allowing AP to continue for so long when it was clear he had lost the plot in May 2016

I look at these 'headlines' and think they are probably mind games. Many have posted on here about players not giving a **** as they still have their contracts/salaries whatever happens etc. Maybe Sam wanted to point out that it's not all about them & that how they perform will impact on every employee of the club as well as the supporters - give them perspective on what's actually at risk this time.

If it brings the fight back then we'll all applaud these tactics, if not.....

.........meltdown.

I'm trying very hard to like him. But esthing him in his press cinference yesterday, I just really can't. Looks and talks like a slob and yes telling the truth, but there are ways to make it sound a bit more positive. Almost seems like he's either making it sound near impossible so that if we go down hes not to blame or if we stay up he's a genius.

Really? We're they the same pundits who thought we could qualify for Europe in 2015? We may well have some talent, but we also have a paper thin squad, that has been hit by some significant injuries, and is lower on confidence and fitness than any I can remember, thanks to Pardew's shenanigans.

I haven't read these articles, but from those headlines it sounds to me like Allardyce is trying to put Parish under pressure to get the deals done as he probably knows what a ditherer he is. If we fail to, at least, address the left-side problem properly (and we've made a start to be fair), and ideally do a bit more beefing up, we could well be for the drop.
