Hi

I'm from Dorking FC, one of the oldest non-league clubs in Surrey now playing in the Combined Counties League.

I just thought any of you on this forum who live near to Dorking might like to know that we will be having an evening of conversation with Richard Shaw coming up on Saturday 21st January.

He's kindly given up his time and will be chatting about the 1990 FA Cup Final, playing in the 1990/91 team, his work now in the Academy and with the U23s - and, of course, Eric Cantona's kung fu kick. He'll also chat with members of the audience informally.

It's open to all, so anyone from this forum who would like to come along is very welcome. It starts at 8pm (so hopefully enough time to get there after the Everton game) at North Holmwood Sports Club, Inholms Lane, North Holmwood RH5 4JH - just south of Dorking. Admission is £5 on the door (it's a fundraiser for our club which runs on an amateur basis).

There's more detail on our website [Link]

Thanks for reading this. I hope you're OK with us letting you know here about the event - if not, I'll gladly remove the post.

Just a reminder, that our evening with Richard Shaw is tonight from 8pm. He has great stories to tell, as well as insights on the development of young players and the game in general, and will take questions from the audience. So, if you can make it out to Surrey after the game this afternoon, you'll be very welcome. Admission just £5 on the door.

I recall meeting a very nice chap who used to tend to the ground at 'Meadowbank' and has been involved with the club for many a year.Very respectable grey haired chap.

We've got quite a few grey-haired chaps. "Respectable" probably narrows it down a bit though!
Meadowbank is currently being completely rebuilt by the council. We'll be back there next season in a brand new stadium with 3G.

I have a feeling that he said his name was Peter (?) but it was a while ago and I could be very wrong which I am often !!!! He had a full head of hair and quite tall.

I thought this was going to be an indecent proposal.

My wife will be very disappointed when I tell her to put the money back in the penny jar.

Possibly Peter Knight, Willo. If so, he's still with us - hosting match day hospitality in the Board Room.
