According to the Mirror, Big Sam will sell Benteke and use the money to strengthen the squad. I suppose he has to say that it's a reluctant sale to get the best price but he obviously doesn't fancy him and I think he's spot on. Benteke is too lazy for a relegation fight and will only cost us more points than he already has.
Big Sam should be applauded for having the guts to do this and undo Pardews folly.

Looks to me, after reading the article that big Sams leaked this to the press to basically send a message to SP saying he doesn't have enough money. Clearly states it's to free up funds in the article, seems all abbit odd

We're the Arthur over ere!

Probably bullsh1t but would be good if we could get two strikers instead for same money. Possible but in this window unlikely.
He may improve as the team get fitter he did well last season.

If we can get between us 40 and 50 million then sell him. If we go down he'll leave anyway. Reinforcing now makes sense as we can attract better players than if we hAve just dropped.

I can't see this happening but I think it would be a marvellous piece of business if we could get our money back on him.
I started a thread criticising his movement over a month ago which I got absolutely shot down for, he's done nothing since then to change my opinion.
Good touch and if the ball is played to his feet/head I feel reasonably confident he might score, however his anticipation, movement, work rate etc is dreadful.
No idea who we'd replace him with but if big Sam has got signings in mind I'm all for it.

Absolute tosh.

The guy's one of if not the best strikers we've ever had at Selhurst. Strong, powerful, incredible in the air, good feet....can't believe people are saying get rid after one missed penalty and a couple of sub-bar performances. He's not exactly getting stellar service, is he?

Bonkers. Even if it made economical sense, which in a winter window for a club under pressure is hardly likely, it doesn't make practical sense because you'd never get the deals done in time without spending so much that the numbers wouldn't add up. And where would he go? He couldn't get regular starts in a club above us, he wouldn't want to go down to the Championship and nobody abroad would pay the sums required.

And I can't think of anyone available for say £15m who's more likely to score goals than he is.

Must be some sort of psychological legerdemain. I hope.

basically agree with your rating of his abilities, but for £32mil a player should not have to rely quite so much on the team around him, he should be initiating and creating attacks or at the very least taking penalties at least as well as Andy Johnson not worse than Jim Cannon.

Think it's 2 missed penalties and about 10-15 sub-par performances. I was as excited as the next fan when we signed him and think he could still come good, but just watch him. He never gets on the end of anything and is often in a different post code when we're attacking. He's shown flashes, but for the money, we need more than flashes.
