Not seen anything since, but after Tuesdays game it was reported on SSN that Birmingham had offered 4m for him. Possibly, before the game this might have seemed good business, but given the energy he seemed to bring in the 2nd half and zaha off to the ACN this would crazy right now.

He has been terrible
I'd bite their hand off...get it done before he goes and use money for replacement.

He wants to stay and fight for his place. Ie he wants to keep his PL salary

Yes they aren't prepared to pay anything like the reputed £65k p/w he earns at Palace currently. Something like £40k offered.

So surprisingly as Petereagle says he's fighting for his place!

Mind you unless Townsend improves he could come back from the Afcon and join in the wingers selection fight following his cameo on Tuesday night!

This was reported in one of last weekend's papers .... can't remember which one .... and I thought at the time he would lose his PL salary so such a move would be very unlikely.

Agreed. The few cameos he has made this season have looked very positive. It would be madness to write him off just yet. If he can stay fit for a sustained period then he might recapture the form he showed at the beginning of last season. He may be on a large salary but we paid nothing for him

He's looked sluggish on some of his rare appearances, but he's had injuries so it's not surprising really. The worst you can really say about him is that he is unproven at this level. I don't think it's possible to make a judgement yet that he's not good enough. And if he plays like he wants to keep his Premier League salary he could be one of the few squad players that does.

Sako's first season had very good start, then injury, then he clearly wasn't able to get fit again. This season, when he has been on the pitch I'd say he's been a positive.

I'd prefer if he wasn't in Africa right now, but he's definitely got the ability to win us a game or two towards the end of the season.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.
