Probably lazy journalism but would make it difficult to turn down as long as there is a solid plan to invest the money.

unless they offered us double or as close to 60m I would say no. What would we buy for £40m in January which is anywhere near christian. The guy needs quality service last few games has been long punts to him and nothing more apart from the odd cross. Especially when Wickham is now out for season.

Quick profit but we would lose much more by being relegated- no point in selling.

Would be a right result if we could off load him for a profit. Lazy and disinterested. Line up a replacement first though.

Has been a tad disappointing. Can obviously score some great headers but doesn't seem to put himself about enough. If you remember when we lost at home to Villa 2 years ago when he robbed Dann by the touchline ran towards goal and curled it round Speroni - we've seen nothing like that from him and I doubt Allardyce will be impressed unless he shows some more effort. Take the money and sign Hogan from Brentford - a hungry striker who will want to step up and prove something.

But we would lose our profit immediately by having to replace him in the January window with probably not that many suitable candidates available. As with Wilf I can't think of anyone we could get that could drop in and replace. And if Benteke wanted to go to China he'd be flying Porkair I reckon.

Apparently there is a china outfit bidding 40 million for Benteke. That is very tempting don't know if China will take off I think the pay would be crap only £165,000 a week + take away meals.

Only sell if we have someone proven and roughly the same age lined up. Otherwise it's a stupid route to take in our position. It's the sort of thing Mike Ashley would do in mid table when you can get away with it. To do it in 17th is very risky. But who is there we'd get in. Look at Slimani's lack of goals and Zaza at West Ham. I know he's a loan but maybe just as well. Absolute c&ck in this league. An example of poor new striker performances can dent a team.

It is worth remembering that Christian came to us with Jonathan. Two for the price of one. we should not sell. Think what might have been had we still be enjoying the services of Victor Moses and Nathaniel Clyne. COYP
