Ok so none of us expected to win this one but........
I hope it was not the influence of BFS but our wing play was totally nullified by our constant need to get back and defend. If this is going to be our tactics then our so called no problems with scoring goals will go out the window. We never had a chance for a quick break as there was only Benteke in a forward position with absolutely no support. BFS needs to ensure we have our wide players in a position to counter. The way he set us up today there was never going to be a counter . The only chance was playing forward as a unit which because of our poor passing was never going to happen.
Will be interesting on Tuesday.

Get used to this style. It is how FSA sets a team up. We all knew it, and most were willing to watch it for the sake of Premier League football.

Be careful what you wish for springs to mind.

I only hope the players get used to it or we will struggle even against the so called poorer teams with our players playing to BFS tactical formation.

Exactly Tim. Many claimed they didn't care about the performance, well we'll see if that was bulls*** or not now. Sam has to do whatever he can to grind out some wins to get some confidence back and with the ridiculous schedule, style has to take a back seat. Buckle up, bumpy ride ahead.

Unfortunately Arsenal were on it today. If Townsend and Zaha were playing further forward I reckon it would have been a whole lot worse.
It was about staying in the game and nicking a goal, which nearly happened with CB in the second half. It was game over at 2-0. If we set up like that against the teams around us then I would be worried.
West Ham played good football under Sam as did Bolton, don't buy this, 'it's the way he sets his team up' s***e. Tbh it's good to see players playing within their capabilities.

I see only a struggle against all teams for the foreseeable future. It won't stop me getting behind the team while they are playing, and I would never boo them, but I have seen plenty of this dross throughout my years on the terraces.

My concern is not about the bumpy ride as I will take survival over anything but if BFS is going to use our best attacking options in a defensive way then I think it is going to be hard to survive.

Not really a surprise, we have a far more important game in 48 hours.
We were never going to go head on against Arsenal, just tried to keep the score down and no injuries, as it has been discussed to death our squad has no depth. We have a run of winnable games coming up, we need all key players fit.

We don't have that luxury. And haven't had for a while. And won't have for some time to come.

Today wasn't a good example for anything. The amount of passes behind players and balls being cleared into teammates, the way we gave away possession was unbelievable. Bad day at the office. However to be playing that poorly and to only lose by two was a plus.

And we couldn't afford to lose anymore, when we were never going to win realistically. Going on our record there over the last 20 years.
