Premier league newcomer Paul Tierney (36) will be in charge.

The last time he was in the middle for one of our matches was in October 2015 - the six-goal thriller in which we lost 5-1 at Man City in the EFL cup

Not aware of his ever having ref'd any previous match involving Palace.

For those who saw it on Sky, he was ref in the Boxing Day match in which Sheffield Wed won at Newcastle.

are we looking for reasons to blame the ref for poor performance already?

poor showing, it doesnt matter if the ref makes a bad decision we still have 89 other minutes to rectify things.

In response to braunstone, I certainly wasn't looking for any reason to apportion blame to the ref, least of all before the match has even kicked off.

I have no doubt he is an excellent ref otherwise he wouldn't have been promoted to the top flight.

You've seen the performances of some of those officials who've been "rewarded" with promontions and high-profile matches, right? Mentioning no names *ahem* Clattenburg *ahem*

There is a very good referee from Sussex who referees in the EPL and started off as an assistant in the 'Sussex County League'.He has been featured on TV a few times and I know a former official who knows him - they have been officials together at local games and the chap who I know speaks highly of him. His name is Tim Robinson.

Maybe he will be promoted to the 'Elite' list fairly soon.

I saw the Newcastle v Sheff Wed game on Sky and thought this ref had a pretty good game despite having 20,000+ mad Geordies baying at him, so give the guy a chance.

Whoever the ref is, if we can't stuff this toilet there's something still badly wrong.

That's for sure. If the players aren't motivated to thrash these lot after what happened then it'll make you wonder. I feel confident on this one though.
