poor choice really he should of waited the england setup has been a mess so he should of waited a bit longer to see if the new manager may use him plus he has only just started to produce the goods so he didn't deserve a call up before also a smart person would see who is in charge or even have a chat with temp manager.

How people can claim he should be picked ahead of townsend is weird townsend had been solid end of last season and had few good games he has only just been off form for last few games you can't keep switch players internatial setup every time because they might have off few games plus AP is messing around with stuff I think this is why towsend is looking iffy.

remember football is a team sport so if other parts are not doing there job you can't always do your own.

News is that Wilf is not going to AFCON and wants to stay at Palace and help the team and club by doing so.

Good lad. It's the right thing to do.

Wilf has been playing well for all of 2016. His decision making has definitely got better and as a winger beating players and putting in crosses has always been his forte. Yes some are poor, but no one puts in 100% success. Most are put in on the run, blind, into an area, what wingers are asked to do, hit an area and let those in the box attack it. Now until this season the quality in the box has only been good once, our promotions year.
Wilf's goal record is indefensible, but the assist stat comes down to people converting his work and constantly they have let him down. I'm not a big fan of the assist stat, but in the last two games Wilf has an assist for making a simple sideways pass to Wickham who did all the work to make it a goal, yet doesn't get one for the own goal by Cork. Go figure.
Definitely deserved a call up and we all know if he'd played the same for Spurs (if he'd of left) he would of got a call up.

I do feel the stats on Wilf don't quite tell the whole story, in that last season we scored a lot of goals from corners/free-kicks, so inevitably Wilf wont get the assist for them, but it would be interesting to see how many of these free kicks and corners were won from his runs and down the wing and putting pressure on defenders. He may not get the assist but a lot of it is down to his (and Bolasie/Townsend) hard work.

Anyway great news he's staying in Jan, 5 assists in his last 5 games, improving all the time...

I don't think anyone should blame Wilf. He has been playing consistently well and has definitely improved, although final ball can go astray. He has also significantly improved his defensive duties.

However, England have not been calling and this is a travesty, as they could do with someone as talented as him to simply beat players.

Like all good players, he wants to play for his country. If England don't want him, then he has opportunities for someone else.

The timing of the African Cup is another matter and is simply another 'nail in our coffin' as we lose probably one of our best players this season at a critical time when we will either save ourselves or be doomed to Championship football. January transfers are problematic in getting quality as replacements.

Despondent Palace fan

Coverage might be good but the standard is pretty poor.

I could never understand why Zaha was overlooked when England have hardly got any players who can get past a full back.

Even the ones that might be capable of taking players on are so paralysed by fear they spend the entire game passing sideways.

Wilf is an incredibly brave player, I think. He keeps on putting himself in there, showing for the ball and doing the difficult thing.

He's magnificent!

If I could, I would erect a statue in my garden to Wilf and declare a national holiday.

Maybe put his picture on a five pound note

Here is Ivory Coasts's record from 2000.

2000 Group Stage
2002 Group Stage
2004 Did Not Qualify
2006 Runners-up
2008 Fourth Place
2010 Quarter-Finals
2012 Runners-up

Looks liks IC will qualify from their group.
