Holiday fixtures

A premier league spokesman says in today's Independent that the league aims to give all teams one home match in the two Xmas/New Year fixtures. So how come Palace are away on both Boxing Day and New Year's Day? Typical bias against unfashionable south London teams?

Peter, it's not just us. I think you'll find that all the PL teams that are playing away in the Boxing Day fixtures are also away for the New Year games. All the rest have two consecutive home holiday fixtures. Doesn't excatly seem fair. Mind you, with our home form....

WTF does it matter? Over the course of the season we have nineteen home games and nineteen away games. So does everyone else.

I agree it doesn't really matter one jot. Palace are actually more fortunate than some of the teams in that their holiday trips are relatively short. Most, if not all, of the other away sides have longer journeys.

OK fair enough - so it looks like the Premier League spokesman was talking cr*p.
Why does it matter (see the following post)? Because it's nice to have one Xmas/New Year holiday fixture at home. Still, at least our two are on tv, so fair play to someone.
