Pardew himself has talked about a transition to a new style of play etc. Just wondering whether anyone found the "new style" any more fun or interesting than the "old style"? For me, I actually preferred the old style of containing teams then breaking quickly on the attack. That was quite exciting to watch and results wise, far more effective. For me, the only reason that style wasn't working was that we didn't have the striker to make it work properly. We now have so what's the harm in giving it a go?

Would be a backwards step. As a progressive club wanting to establish ourselves not only in the top league but in the top half we want to be moving to the model that Pardew is going for. I do believe he has went about it too quickly given the injuries and has also been unlucky at times. We need to just apply ourselves better in the current model and be a bit smarter at times. I do not like losing but I prefer the open, expansive game when we get it right.

Looking at last year, Leicester did the complete opposite and stuck to quick counter attacking football and won the league! And Chelsea are now doing the same! Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Atletico Madrid have also managed to successfully use that style of play.. with the players at our disposal i do think it would be more effective, it's clear our defence in particular are not comfortable with this style of play.

Whatever the style of play is that we are trying to play, the Team is now worse than it was at the end of Pardews first Season. I agree we did not have the striker last year because of injuries to Wickham. I would have preferred Bolasie and Zaha on the wings crossing to Murray/Gayle. But it never happened.

I personally think it's more exciting, hardly any possession but when we did get the ball, out to bolasie or Zaha to attack straight away but you are limited and we had to change our system as soon as we sold bolasie. Plus we was useless when teams used to sit back and let us play. Also pretty much every week on here last season people were moaning about us not being able to play through the middle so the majority have got what they wanted.

I think with the players we have the old style was bette.most people were saying all we needed was a decentre centre forward. However we never had a 'plan b' for when this wasn't working. In my opinion all we needed was a decent no.10 to allow us to play through the midele would give us that. If we could break quickly through the middle as well as the wings, (much like Leicester ) we'd be quite a handful..

Swansea came up and played nice football – and now they’re sh*t. It shows that this idea that playing pretty football makes you ‘next level’ and somehow more established in this league is not true. Attractive football is the icing on the cake and right now, we don’t have a f*cking cake. We don’t pass the ball well, it’s not easy on the eye and we’re scoring more goals by sacrificing the basics. There’s nothing clever or futuristic about that. It can’t go on like this.

I think pardews problem is that he wants to change to a more attacking style, but he wants to go toe to toe with every team and we're not good enough for that. He needs to pick the games to do that (a sort of plan b) He's changed that for the last two games and I'm hoping he's had a change of heart. But I'm not convinced that he won't consider Watford an easier game and go for them again.....defining game for Pardew I feel.

I like the way we wait for the oppo to all get behind the ball before we pass it across the back 4 to massage the possession stats. Expansive? At Home no. Away we leak like a sieve. 2 goals conceded from our own corner in one game, goals conceded minutes after going ahead or getting level in others. 1 player from a dross team walking through 4 players or hopping past a right back (yes right back as well as left back). Yes we all wanted that for ages and super al delivered. A gradual shift should never have taken us from 2-1 outcomes to 3-2, 4-3, 5-3 every week until a poor on the day Southampton and another c0ck up of a sub v Man Utd that shows how Pardew's mind works yet again. I hope Parish has been talking to someone and our potential signings are listed with his whilst he's been watching this naive, amateur and desperate gamble for points every week because he doubts his ability to earn any like we doubt him and deservedly so.
