Now I do have so much respect for Steve Parish and the board, But I am questioning his wisdom in keeping Alan Pardew in a job. Lots have been said on here about Alan Pardew being out of his depth and unable to change things around, With Parish and I love the guy, Is he out of his depth, If you look at the facts, He was comfortable with Ian Holloway guiding us through the first year of the Premier league, Iw was following such bad performances that Holloway was so embarrassed that he resigned and admitted that he was not the man for the job, With Tony Pulis he was never Steve'a first choice in fact at the time it was widely reported that he was the only one who accepted the job. So we did well by default under Pulis. another appointment was Neil Warnock & I don't think i need to say anything about that situation and again Steve let that run on far too long, and with the threat of relegation before he acted.

Burley - I don't remember seeing too many negative posts, it was a sign of a bright new future. Didn't work out. Their first appointment Freedman - the peoples choice, f***ed us over, not SP fault Holloway, again lauded as a great manager to get us out of the championship, which he did. he also knew when to walk. Overall a success Pulis, delayed getting him, he wanted lots of cash, kept us up when we looked doomed - Money grabbing t*** but a success Warnock - Hobson's choice at the time. Could perhaps have looked elsewhere but we didn't have a lot of time. Pardew, kept us up & finished 10th. Last season an FA Cup Final. We are struggling now, whether he stays or goes overall a success

Cant disagree with the Burley & Freedman comments, But I was referring to the this premier stay. Holloway in a way was a success but the point I made is Parish let it run far too long. Pulis was not first choice at all, He tried many candidates, And Pulis was the only one who accepted the job on the second approach. Warnock no excuses a poor appointment in taking any mitigating circumstances into account. Pardew a success if he actually goes now and does not take us down Otherwise its a major disaster This thread is just asking for peoples opinions on Parish no wrongs or rights here ---------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Y Ddraig Goch

I've been consistently in the "Pardew Out" camp since April / May. However it's not AP's fault he is still in charge & I believe Pards genuinely has the club at heart & is trying his best. The blame for our current plight lies solely with the men in charge. They, crassly, gave Pards a 4 year deal when we were already on the They now, from my angle, are stuck by the financial penalties imposed by the new deal & burdened by the fact that to admit error of judgement now is a major blow to credibility. The wallet & personal arrogance is now preventing correct decisions being taken - IMHO.

I keep seeing this being said, though usually 5 yrs and when I have googled it I have been unable to find anything that confirms it ever happened

Parish tried to appoint Malky Mackay and he did appoint that other corrupt bloke as Sporting Director. Got lucky with Pulis. Holloway walked but was not going to be sacked going by Browett's comments so we were heading straight back to The Championship with their acceptance. Hence, the signing of Dwight Gayle imo pre-empting that scenario. Thanks Ian for going. Respect. Warnock - Should have been a consultant on 'Walking With Dinosaurs' not our manager. Never had a successful Prem season ever but was appointed anyway. Alan came in and saved the day. Whatever luck ( a lot) Parish has had he has earned it but I don't think he has the magic to upgrade and refurbish the club and get the staff and academy needed long-term to survive in The Prem. His legacy unless he up's his game will not be 'naming-a-stand-after-him' worthy. And selling 40% of the club to the Yanks? Thanks, Steve.

Holloway seemed a decent appointment at the time, and did get us promoted (just). I think his 'resignation' was just Parish letting him go gracefully. Warnock I also think was a sensible appointment - we were in absolute turmoil and he seemed like the kind of battling manager to keep us going for a while - he was never intended to be more than a stop-gap, and we did get enough points under him to stay afloat. Can't be denied that Pardew was a good appointment at the time, and has overall been good for our club, even if he has lost the plot now. I do question Parish's judgment with every game that goes by with Pardew in charge at this point, but a sacking soon and a good manager to take us forward and I don't see how we'll be able to complain about the direction Parish is taking us.

He got us promoted, when we had to win we did. Our form was poor at times but we were never going to continue the 6 game winning streak that suddenly made Dougie the best manager Palace ever had.

My memory tells me that it was Pulis that didn't really want the job and Steve Parish spent ages courting him and trying to persuade him to take it

People are really questioning SP. Just because he hasnt done what they want yet. f***ing unbelievable. Last time i checked we were still in the prem for our longest run ever and had made the cup final for only the second time in our history. And we arent even in the bottom 3. No wonder we get called Nigels.

That's rewriting history to suit the current mood. It was Dougie's team, the majority of whom was still forming the backbone of our first team in the Premiership and we were flying into one of the automatic promotion spots when he left and there is no reason at all why that run of form wouldn't have continued.
