Yohan Cabaye was at fault for two goals today due to being a lazy git.....McArthur is so important - when he was subbed we lost our cover in front of Dann and Delaney.....Another dodgy substitution by Pardew

One maybe, but Dann was far more culpable for the other. He allowed his marker to turn him.

McArthur was clearly hobbling. Even the commentators mentioned it.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Patience has worn thin with Cabaye, he needs to be moved on to get in a proper defensive midfielder.

So let me be clear here.
Dann is bullied and nutmegged for the 2nd and that's Cabaye's fault?
On the 3rd Livermore approached Ledley passed it off ran round him for the return while he stood there and that's Cabaye's fault? Cabaye and Dann couldn't risk sticking out a foot, so totally not to blame here.
You can criticise Cabaye for lack of impact on a game, passing backwards or sideways, but you can never question his work rate or commitment.
The need for a scapegoat is clearly a mental security blanket type of thing I assume.

3rd is definitely Ledley's runner that doesn't get tracked.

Then again, that doesn't fit some people's narrative on here.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

That's the problem with fans. When I was young I was pretty much like that and I didn't have 27 replays to show just what everyone did during the build up. So I had to just remember what I thought I saw and usually I just blamed my scapegoat.
I have favourites and players I don't rate, but I criticise the person to blame now and praise the person who did well. Like many players Cabaye is struggling right now and also the misconception of his actual role doesn't help.
Right now Dann a player I really like is struggling badly and actually being bullied at times by forwards and costing us goals. Many when defending have become so reliant on holding they've actually forgotten the basics of defending and at set plays it's been killing us. That lack of confidence is now affecting the normal everyday defending him and many in the league do and more mistakes are being made. Seriously there's no such thing as a tussle in football anymore, the ref always gives a foul one way or the other and it's no longer a contact sport.
On the 3rd goal though, neither Dann, who was on a yellow or Cabaye could risk sticking a foot out in the penalty area, especially as the away team with that ref. Ledley didn't do enough there and I'm not saying it because of any personal agenda I'm just stating a fact.

So what is his actual role ?
I genuinely would like to know.
When we signed him and we all go excited and thought
we had the creative midfield attacking player we lacked , after a couple of months when it was clear he wasn't and we were told don't be silly it's because we are playing him as a defensive midfielder.
If we are still playing him as a defensive midfielder he is doing a pretty poor job.

I have asked before but no one seems to answer, what is role and what does he do that has any positive effect on the team ?

I have a little bit of sympathy for central midfielders brought on in the heat of the second half. For me it's been one of the main reasons for us shipping goals towards the end of the game.

But for Hull's second the midfield as a whole has to do better to stop the pass into the feet of the striker; Ledley gets dragged out so far to the left and Cabaye doesn't go to plug the gap. Neither Ledley or Cabaye are intelligent enough to play in defensive mid.

How you can't blame Cabaye for the third is beyond me, he practically skates away from Livermore as he runs at him. Delaney is also at fault for charging out and leaving a gap.

I blame Dann and Ledley (for the 2nd and 3rd respectively) a little less because them getting beaten is more down to their lack of pace/explosiveness. I think it was a great turn from Diomande and Ledley is not quick enough to catch Livermore for the give and go.

I think the formation also played a role in conceding both goals, I didn't think we needed to change to 5 at the back.
