Tiresome tribalism yes, but at least they genuinely believe in an idealogy, believe in principles. Better than most politicians.

Ironically, when talking about the hard left and hard right, they agree on Brexit. There's an excellent article on a socialist website highlighting their reasons for being pro-Brexit.

It is the centre folk who were anti...

I wasn't really thinking about politicians, more about people. Plenty of posters on here talk about left/right wing - often as a way of defining others rather than themselves. I'm not convinced in general many people believe the ideology makes for a better country or leads to better outcomes, but it's easy to understand why membership of a group that reinforces their own views feels produces a sense of belonging not far removed from football. The 'we won, you lost' undertow is quite strong when commenting on plenty of political aspects.

Politicians are often a different breed - I do reckon most come in with a public service mindset, believing their ideas will make things better. But debate is often conducted in the same binary fashion - not really constructive debate.

Besides, can't centralism (is that a word?) be an ideology?

I was under the impression the far right tended to regard futuristic art as wishy - washy liberal nonsense.

Flags, though...
