Just finished watching the pre match press conference and pardew has said he can't see why he needs to change the back 4? Please be lying just to keep Southampton in the dark, if I see Kelly on the left then there no defending the man

Let's see if Tomkins plays RB and Ward LB or 3-4-3 instead. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Hope this is what happens Why? The defending in open play hasn't been that bad recently. Changing the system in response to conceding loads of set piece goals doesnt make a lot of sense to me. The players would take time to get used to that formation - would be a huge unnecessary risk Edited by victor43 (02 Dec 2016 12.47pm)

Kelly is a worry but for me the worry is what do we do with our striker options with Wickham out? Frazier Campbell is not an option, so who else can step in with Benteke? Do we bring in Sako? Edited by Sussex Based Palace (02 Dec 2016 12.52pm)
We are Palace from Selhurst. |

Can't see how he can change the defence meaningfully in terms of personnel. Kelly's struggling but I don't think Fryers would fare any better. Delaney in for Tomkins is the only other available switch. It's defensive coaching which needs to be sorted out.

We have very few options to change it, and has been pointed out we have not conceded too many in open play. What's needed is a change of attitude and a more pro-active approach to defending set-pieces.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

What about Ledley on left back, keep the other three in their usual places and maybe DD in front of them as a fighting "cageman"?
