I reckon he's tried to kill himself. If so, shame he didn't succeed.

What i cant see is, OK the lads were abused when they were 8,9,10, but the same coaches were still at the clubs when these lads were 18 -20 fit young footballers so why did they not just go and kick s*** out of them if it effected them that much or being high paid, pay someone else to. If it had happened to me I would have killed the sods.

Yes massive shame.

Looks like this story is just going to get bigger and bigger. Feel for the victims of him and those like him.

Well it looks like 2 of them killed themselves instead. I don't think any of us can say what we'd have done, unless you've been there.

I have to agree that if it did all happen then why did they not do something about years ago when the coach was first taken to court or subsequent times after. He has been done a few times BUT not one of them came forward then???

Perhaps dollar signs came up in front of their eyes after all the other accusations of abuse were surfacing it makes you wonder well it does me. I am not saying for one minute some of them did not suffer abuse but how has it taken so long for the blokes to come forward. ??????

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Shame, fear of not being believed, thinking they were the only ones, putting it to the back of their mind and trying to get on with life , sometimes having their own children can be a trigger for the memories to come back and the feeling of wanting to protect others. Not fully grasping at the time simply how serious and wrong it was what was done to them.

There will be more like this. Sadly where ever you have adults having contact with children in whatever setting whether it be sports , academic, cubs, Scouts and the hundreds of other activities which children take part in there is the opportunity for this to happen if some one has those tendencies. So I don't doubt more about this will come out or other sports

wowzers, think you are massively underestimating the psychological trauma caused by child offenders and the lasting effect it has on their victims. I'm sure it's justice and prevention rather than money they're after

I do not need to be told about psychological trauma as a very close female member of our family was abused as a young girl for many many years but she put it to back of her mind and leads a normal life. She does sometimes mention it but does not go running to anyone for justice and I would imagine these footballers who have kept it quiet for so long should do the same..TALK ABOUT it and not get on the band wagon. We ALL know abuse is a terrible thing and it does go on and has done for so long now even way back to Roman times. My view on the subject is: Why all of a sudden do all these men suddenly think it is time to bring it all up in the public domain. Why not seek help from the right people....

Because someone, namely Woodward, was strong enough to uncork the bottle. From what I've read they've sought help from the right people but that doesn't exclude them from making this all public.

It's not like they're accusing dead people either.
