Just seen on Transfere rumours that AP and SP were in new york with Lanpard over the weekend, prompting suggesting that a Player/coach deal was discussed.

Too old to play surely, but coaching could be a great move ?

Could be a brilliant move.....as long as he can actually coach and doesn't consider learning to coach beneath him.

He has announced his departure from New York City FC and is pondering his next move - but could Frank Lampard be on his way to Crystal Palace?

The 38-year-old posed a photo with Eagles owner Steve Parish and manager Alan Pardew on Tuesday night in New York, along with his wife Christine (TV presenter Bleakley) and other celebrities Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid and Richard Bacon.

And it has sparked suggestions that Palace could offer the Chelsea legend a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Lampard is one of the greatest players to have played in the Premier League, known for his goal-scoring exploits from midfield. And he impressed during his spell in Major League Soccer with 15 goals in 29 games last season.

At 38, he is of course past his best years, but could he offer something to Palace just until the end of the season? However, it is believed Chelsea are preparing a deal to bring him back to Stamford Bridge in some sort of capacity.

Seems like a big jump from a few celebs posing for a picture to 'Lampard joins Palace', particularly as it would appear Chelsea are offering a role.

Unless we are planning to bring Lampard here, I would question what Pardew was doing there. Shouldn't he be at the training ground trying to sort out our defence/tactics etc?

And miss out on the (even remote) chance of a celebrity shag? You must be joking

We have had what, 7 players on International duty? I would imagine a lot of the remaining squad will have had a break. Those with knocks or needing treatment get the necessary attention and the others having a bit of active recovery. Then after this weekend they will have been back at it on Monday

I can't imagine fat lamp still has the legs for the premiership so I'd be inclined in saying no.

Personally think this is a non story and he'll have a break before going back to coach at Chelsea.

It didn't work out with adebyor and looks like flamini might be past it to. I doubt they'd risk making the same mistake for a third time.

Goalkeepers were (some would include them in the defence)

Defensive midfielders were

Also Dann recovering form a recent knock. As I said, an opportunity for players to get some active rest and patched up.

If I was one of the owners I'd want a little word with Pardew right now.
