GK: MANDANDA RB : WARD CDM : FLAMINI CM : CABAYE RW : ZAHA SUBS: HENNESSEY, KELLY, DELANEY, LEDLEY, PUNCHEON, CY LEE, WICKHAM Fryers needs to start to give balance to the side and he really couldn't be much worse than Kelly at left back. Delaney doesn't have the legs any more. Tell Cabaye and McArthur not to drop back into our own half to get the ball, every other team in the league can manage without both bloody central midfielders dropping level with the centre backs to pick up the ball to start an attack. Play out via Flamini, via the full backs, or if both of those options are being blocked, hit it long to Benteke and then he's got Cabaye, Mcarthur and both wingers to pick up the knock downs. There's no shame in going long occasionally especially when you have the best holdup striker in the league. How much better than does bench look, cover in defense, good attacking options with Punch, Lee and Wickham who can make an impact. I'd recall Kaikai in January and let him challenge for Townsend's spot as right now he has no competition and doesnt even want to play on the left as it is. Buy a left back, CDM and No. 10 in January.

My guess is his legs have gone and is no longer the player he was, the best he can do is make the bench.

I suspect Tomkins to the right and Ward to the left would be the most solid. Dann and Delaney in the centre of defence. Then perhaps Cabaye in the defensive role with Jimmy Mac and Puncheon in the central/roaming roles. Zaha and Townsend on wings and Wickham (just seems on better form than Benteke) up front. I'm surprised Tomkins hasn't been on the right all along - as he did a decent job there for West Ham.

Like this when we've not got the ball: WARD -- DANN -- DELANEY -- FRYERS ------- TOMKINS ------- ZAHA -- CABAYE -- MCARTHUR -- TOWNSEND ------ BENTEKE ------ And like this when we have the ball: MANDANDA TOMKINS -- DANN -- DELANEY ZAHA ---- BENTEKE ---- TOWNSEND SUBS: HENNESSEY, KELLY, FLAMINI, LEDLEY, PUNCHEON, CY LEE, WICKHAM Put Tomkins in front of the back four and let him drop back in to a three man defence on the right side. This will allow both fryers and ward to get forward more and create problems which will free up the rest of the team. I've been saying we should play this formation since before the start of the season and stand by it.
