I commute on the London to Brighton line. I have to say that the service has generally been better DURING the rail strikes. It's why they'll probably never get anywhere.

If its Great South Western, you won't be able to tell if they're on strike or just haven't turned up

On the plus side bankers, paedos, estate agents and used car salesmen have all moved up a place in the likeability table.

I know some drivers & they're having a 4th Ballot on the 18th Nov, They're not happy about the way they're being treated by the new franchise also loads of changes to working practice & they're not happy about driver only operated trains but due to Aslef not following protocol with previous ballots Gtr have managed to get all 3 previous ballots overturned in the high court because they're blatantly supporting the conductors.

Why are these Union w*nkers still striking.

"Guards" are not necessary on the London Underground. The driver shuts the doors and has done for decades FFS.

No safety issues about door closure on the tube.

Why do the RMT keep banging on about safety for Southern Rail?

If we had let the Unions win in the past we would still be using steam locomotives and employing wheeltappers FFS.

Agreed. If some orange faced middle aged lady with no bladder control can't get her poodle in a handbag through the doors within the allotted time then it's no loss to society when she sustains horrific injuries.

I'm able to get on and off a train without it feeling like a Crystal Maze game so why do we need some fat comic book reader in a tank top overseeing things?

I appreciate that I may have generalised a bit about the sort of people that get stuck in train doors.

Any sympathy I had with the union went a few weeks ago.

However, I think Southern and their CEO Charles Horton are a generally odious lot. They are only interested in profit and shareholders, not the travelling public.

Southern were not providing an acceptable service before this dispute.

The big problem is that most stations south of Croydon, except the termini, are unmanned out of office hours. People with any sort of disability would be buggered getting on/off with Driver only trains. LUL stations are staffed whenever trains are running, now 24 hour in some cases.
