I think it's time we changed the defence,no clean sheet in 15 prem games is abysmal. The best defensive partnership we have is delaney and Dann. therefore why don't we try Tomkins at RB, where he played for west ham last season and push Joel ward to lb, where he performed well under pulis. Although stevee is not a major fault for most goals. Should Wayne hennessey be recalled?
Also think ledley been poor in the last few games, is it time for flaminI?

Dann and Tomkin need to play together more so I think we should stick with Dann and Delaney who work well together

I like the idea of playing Tomkin at the same time as the two"D's". As a stop gap for now I would go along with Tomkin at right back but I think we should play Tomkin in a mid field 3 and when we can get a new right bavk move Ward to be one of the midfield 3 with McCartur in the third spot.

We need to tightenour grip on midfield and a 4 3 line up would do this and give another Tall player alongside Dan and Delaney for corners.

We could give it a try but is Tompins fast enough?
As for getting a grip on the midfield - we sold Jedinak who would have provided the answer - sadly we have not replaced him because AP doesn't like to think defensivley.
Millions of pounds a year but he stiill hasn't worked out that clean sheets are a real help!

Said that exact thing on the martin kelly thread pre liverpool. Agree entirley. Problem is tomkins sees himself as a centre back and probablt has been promised to play there.

Tompkins Delaney Dann Ward looks much more solid agree.

Ward was good at LB can Kelly make his mark not at LB he is a good player.

Badly miss Pulis IMO.

So wait...you're suggesting our midfield 3 be Tomkins, Ward and McArthur???

We haven't really got much to work with. Two new full-backs need to be bought sooner rather than later.

Dann and Tomkins just looked like they hadn't had much time together on the pitch. As a pair, they were at fault for 3 of the 4 goals- not tight enough when marking from set pieces in the box, and not communicating when Tomkins went with the runner and was pulled wide- Dann needed to read the danger and move across.
Definitely most worrying was the set pieces though- everyone should be fully aware of their job and should be well drilled.

There really is no excuse for Palace conceding headed goals at set pieces. The defenders we have are perfectly capable but at the moment they are not working together and the opposition are getting free headers. When a ball comes over they all seem to leave it to each other ,they need to concentrate stay goal side and attack the ball. Also it might help if the keeper came out and took control sometimes.
Delaney has his critics but I think he's the best out and out defender we have and should play against Burnley.

An old-school no-nonsense defender.
