Do you think we would have conceded two corners if Delaney was playing?

I think he was the voice and organisation of that defensive and showed passion and desire to get in the way of everything.

Then again, on Saturday morning if you asked me who I would start at CB I would have said Tomkins and Dann.

Yes we would . As I mentioned on the Tomkins thread the goals from corners came from headers from 6 yards . Surely the goalkeepers ball .
There is not a lot a defender can do as they are static in that area ,jumping against a player who is running in and jumping ,its got to be keepers ball .

As a centre half ,many moons ago it was always a sweet sound when the keeper shouted as the corner came over, you just had to make sure you blocked the run to protect the goalie .There was never a question of having to jump unless the ball was played further out when you then had the advantage over the opposition as it was you that was jumping on the move and the forward was static .
Its not rocket science its a game of football , the goalkeeper must come for crosses within 10 yards of goal .Until he does ,whoever it may be , we will continue to let in goals from corners

If you look at the goals closely. McArthur lost his runner for the 1st as he did for West Hams winner too. Dann was outmuscled by Lovren for the 2nd. Tompkins was nowhere near Matip for the 3rd and Dann was the wrong side of Firmino for the 4th making it a very easy pass for Henderson

We might not have conceded from corners, but I think we'd have been in bigger trouble with Delaney trying to mark Firmino, Coutinho and Mane.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Delaney was badly missed IMO we will concede too many goals without him and that could tip us into relegation.

Good point. Tomkins distribution is also a lot better, even if he did go back to the keeper 90% of the time. However in my eyes a defender's priority should be to defend, which were not doing at the moment!

I'd let Damo play long ball for 90 minutes if it meant a clean sheet and a win against Burnley!
