Heard from a few people on Twitter (reliable source) that the reason Townsend was dropped was because he told Pardew he preferred playing on the right (I agree actually). Pardew didn't like that and that's why he was dropped. Bare in mind mainly came out of the Pardew Out guys on Twitter, and Townsend hasn't quite done it yet after Stoke game, so may have been dropped due to poor form. If it is true, was Pardew correct? Cheers

Pardew was quoted as saying this in one of the media links at the bottom of homepage after the game. Worrying if true!

Yet to see Townsend play well against the top sides. Looked scared at Spurs, anonymous last week. Perhaps the manager thought the same and thought Chungy a more reliable option Edited by palace-metros (30 Oct 2016 9.25am)
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

I read it differently. He stated that Townsend wants to play on the right, which he does, but that's also Wilf's preferred side. Both can't play there so he went with Wilf and clearly Chungy has no problem playing left. Not really worrying, as it's the manager who picks players for their positions, not the winger.

He was dropped because Lee was a better player to break up Liverpool and I thought it worked well. Townsend came on and we lost our shape and opportunities Edited by dannyboy1978 (30 Oct 2016 9.33am)

Whatever the reason was... I hope Pardew saw the effect of Townsend's threat to Liverpool's defence compared to CY Lee. Both Ian Wright and Steve McManaman agreed at half time that we lacked a threat on both sides and that Lee should be replaced by Townsend or Puncheon. Klopp must have loved it when he got our team sheet and saw the lineup. Yet again Palace surrender the first half to our opposition. let's hope Pardew can select the best XI to start next week away to Burnley or shall we give them a one goal start too?

Lee should have started in the middle to do the Puncheon role, he is not a winger. Should have been Cabaye, McArthur, Lee C Y midfield. Ledley looked like he was playing 2 divisions above his level yesterday, offered no protection for the back line.

..we are way too slow when on and receiving the ball and when against quick organised teams it becomes very obvious, this game was quite predictable and sadly made worse by our weird defending, too many players watch the ball and not the player and too many do not help each other when in tight situations, Pardew is trying to play with a team that cannot play due to it's failure through awareness, also if you cannot provide the opposition with any attack to worry about then you are asking for all the shit to hit the fan...and it did hit us.

Ledley was awful yesterday. We need a new LB in Jan And a left footed out and out left winger.

..when we did finally organise ourselves during the second half we looked dangerous and they were not coming at us at will because of it, we would have no doubt still lost this match because they have brilliant individuals but for me it was not the result but the way the result came about that annoys me and this is worrying for the rest of the season as it is taking us an entire half to get organised in every single game.
