Bored reading some of the anti-AP comments and I haven't actually read anyone volley home the reason we lost against the Spam so here it is.James McArthur got caught ball watching for a split second, end of conversation. He has been the difference so far this season in mine and a lot of other peoples opinions but today his rare and very small mistake cost us a point. No one is perfect and the margins are that small, Benteke gets the fastest ever WC Qualifier goal in history and a hatrick but a few days later misses a penalty. If anyone had a right to apportion blame and start throwing toys around it would be the manager for several players under performing today.

You can't pin the blame for this loss on one player's lack of concentration. It seems that when Benteke has a bad game, then the rest of the team do too. The forward passing was atrocious that is why, it seems, when attacking, the ball was invariably passed back. The crosses were abysmal. When the ball did get to the Spammers end it was wasted.Punch needs to concentrate his training next week on passing the ball to a Palace player!

I don't want to hang Pardew just because we lose to a good team like West Ham who play better than on the day. It's not about losing the match. It's about West Ham being able to play like a team straight after the first whistle, while our lot - most of them - looked like they hadn't touched a football for weeks. I feel the same as I did watching us play West Brom in our first match after the season break. Pardew, for what ever reason, did not have the team ready. Just moments before their first goal it was just a question of time before they'd score. we were utterly crap. Hoofing it about, not being able to work the ball far, nt winning duels, mistakes galore, a Zaha miss in space with time, Ward's header back to Mandanda, etc. we played nowhere near how we were playing our last handful of games. And how many times it takes us a whole 45 minutes of a match to finally get things right? Not good enough! We are simply not good enough even at our best to keep giving opponents 45 minutes. We can't expect to keep coming back from goals down. Their manager out-witted AP - do I think we should sack AP? No. Not in our interest. But let's call a spade a spade? - end of rant. Do

Reason we lost is because Spam bought more intensity to the middle and wings, and we didnt have time or space to get our passing game going.

But back to benteke, he scored 3 for Belguim, sure it was against Gibraltar, but they were all with his feet. Just saying we are not utilizing his full abilities when we just aiming for his head.

I thought we seemed to be crowded out most of the time and consequently went for the long diagonal ball much more than we have been doing. West ham then had three big centre backs doing their best to keep Benteke off the ball. Every time the ball was put in the box it seemed very crowded also. I just wish Wickham had been able to get a little closer and above the ball for his last minute header.

Could not agree more! The first half was unbelievable, even a lot worse than the WBA game when we kicked off the season. Everyone was to blame and we made the opposition look like the German national side. How is it possible over & over to start our games so sloppy?

Ward should of been closer to cresswell for the cross and shouldn't turn his back! Which happens a lot.

Surely the reason we lost was because Benteke took the worst penalty in league history.
If he has cored we would have gone in 1-1 and I think we would have won.

We could blame the weather our passing game broke down in the heavy rain but to me the issue was in part we didn't have a leader out there. When things started to go wrong no one stepped up to bring the team together and lead the team. Damo was unusually quiet.

This is the point - in nearly every game he has to make half-time substitutions because his formation/team was wrong in the first half. We've conceded first in 6 of our 8 games - this cannot keep happening.

We definitely miss Dann's presence (as captain and one of the best centre backs in the league) both at the back and getting up the field and scoring. Will be good to have him back next week.
