We've the 23rd most expensive squad in the top 5 leagues in Europe.

Obviously boosted by this summers signings and all the new money flying around in the premier league but still pretty interesting.

Just behind AC Milan so tell MOD & Sky we want the same exposure as they get in Italy.
Or as the 25th richest club in Europe not to prop up most Saturday nights highlights!

It states our squad cost £132m.

How does this figure standup ? Even with this summer around £60m outlay where was the other £72 spent any ideas ?.

It's probably getting there.

Cabaye
Dann
Zaha
Wickham
Jimmy Mac
Souare

That's probably about £40m

Add in players like Mutch, Kelly, Fryers, Lee, Ledley who all cost a couple of million each.

I wonder if it is also a reflection of the inflated amounts that premier league clubs have been paying for relatively average players?

Yes it's a reflection of the amount of money flying around the Premier League, so teams selling to a Premier League club will be able to charge more.

It should really take into account transfer fees received over the previous two years to give the bigger picture as regard to how much a club has actually spent to assemble said squads.

Take off £50mill for us.

-£80 mill-ish deficit but that is pretty good going indeed considering.

We wasted tens of millions on crap incl salary in those first few seasons back in The Prem but we also got some gems.

By my calculations we paid £102m
So considering our bargains it sounds about right

Agreed - there is probably a table to show that somewhere but damned if I'm going to bother looking for it.

Either way, who would have thought that 6 years after administration, we would be the 23rd highest spending club in Europe - if there is one thing that certain about us its that we are impossible to predict... so in fact there is nothing that is certain about us!

I wonder where they got the other 30 million from?
