Although Delaney had his critics this season. I thought damo was immense on Friday. Does damo keep his place for west ham or does tomkins retain his place. Thoughts

Damo does so much to help out, stuff that could possibly have ended up in goals against us. But he can often give away penalties. If he can fix this part of his game I'd start him - but who knows?

AP spent £10 million on Tomkins for a reason,he is far more comfortable with the ball at his feet than Delaney is.He is the future and he needs to start building a partnership with Dann so he has to start imo.Delaney has been a great servant and will provide solid cover for us for the moment but I'm sure we will invest in another CB by the time the summer transfer window has shut next year and maybe even by the end of January.

I think we have to go with Tomkins partly for the same reason that we all thought Bolasie would have a blinder against us, JT will have a point to prove. JT will be the future alongside Dann and as much as I like Damo, it is a similar situation to Speroni, we'd all love to see him play, but he must know his days are numbered. Besides Damo was off to the US and proved himself to everyone by becoming an accomplished Mid to Bottom of the PL player. I don't think that is harsh. Sentiment will take us backwards, but Damo is an excellent substitute to have coming on. (Also, I feel dirty calling James Tomkins JT)

It's gonna be Dann and Tomkins when both are fit. But Delaney's form means we would be mad to rush Dann back. I hope we take zero risk on that because a repeat hamstring would be a mare.

I love Damo but he can be a liability & we really are in the world of every mistake being punished now.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Tomkins for me. Delaney has given away an awful lot of free kicks this season, and he is conceding them in dangerous areas.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

True although he was the only defender anywhere near the attacker - at least he got close and read the intentions. He just lacked the pace to quite get there (and probably would have got a red card if it hadn't been offside) Anyway - Tomkins for me. He is more comfortable on the ball, younger, and more designed to the premier league. Damo still has the days when he will be the more effective choice, but they are becoming less numerous. To play devils advocate here - should we not be starting with dd and jt? As to leave either out having done so well would surely send the wrong message. Whilst sd is our skipper and best centre half he knows how highly he's regarded at the club. It's players like dd who play the covering role that need to feel loved. Does that make sense?

Dann Tomkins is the number one pairing. DD is still a key player for us we will need him to cover for Dann and Tomkins.
