Dare say if England do well in the qualifiers under his control he might come into consideration, but what the hell has Southgate done in football management other than get Middlesbrough relegated ? Would be a bizarre appointment.

I've changed my Facebook status to question how the hell Chris Hughton has got the England job. Of course he hasn't, but it's a rumour that will briefly panic some Brighton fans.

Steve Bruce has to be favourite, if only because a) he's the only other one interviewed when Sam got appointed and b) currently unemployed and thus free.

Personally I'd prefer Eddie Howe.

Yes, but who do you want to be England's new manager?

Arsene wenger ,would get the respect from the players, knows the England players as he has been here a long time.Has nothing left to offer arsenal, would get us playing good football.May fancy a crack on the international stage.

That would be a great improvement over most of the last fifty years.
