Stevie P's opinion on a premier league junior. Good idea? Any alternatives from us intuitive bunch?

Maybe our brilliant chairman is looking to change the structure of english football in order to avoid disaster at cpfc. Taking the worst case scenario and reducing the risk factor majorly.

I think Steve is dead wrong. As he himself says, you need the connection to the rest of the football pyramid. It's the beauty of having the set up, that Man United could potentially one day play in League 2 and that AFC Wimbledon could potentially play in the prem. Its what football is about.

I can't see that the rest of the Prem would agree to a Prem 2 without the assurance of pulling up the ladder under them. And that would be horrendous and wrong. And if you're not talking about pulling up the ladder then actually Prem 2 is just the CHampionship rebranded so whats the point?

Loathe this idea. Smacks of the big clubs trying to pull up the drawbridge

I think he is coming at this from the wrong direction. Simply abolish the Premiership and lets have division one back

At least if it did happen we could point to a specific date and time where English football was finally killed and buried.

The gap in revenues between the Prem and the rest of the football league needs to be materially narrowed by reworking how the tv pot is divied up.

Bollocks to that. Let 'em get to the PL the hard way. like we did, then they can share in the spoils. Until then, let the likes of Bloom keep chucking away £1.5m a month trying to get there. We need to spend a whole lot on infrastructure and I'm f***ed if I'm gonna see that money given to the likes of Brighton.

Bexley Dave

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

It's the bigger picture Dave - the bigger picture. The Prem has far too much power and that is not good for the national game, right down to the grass roots.

Good for SP to have thoughts on PL2 but really needs to focus on us and our own grand plans way before getting involved in any PL2 ideas

Although not a mind reader I would think his intentions are to keep palace relatively safe should (god forbid) we go down. SP is looking at taking care of palace rather than the bigger picture here I believe.

From the link it's hard to understand what he is referring the 2nd league as being. Surely it's just a rebranded championship with more TV money and I'd imagine some kind of B teams allowed within it maybe. Who knows, as the link actually says nothing about what league 2 means?

That's a link to information on the current Premier League 2. Which is basically two divisions for under 23's. You can't get relegated from it so not sure how new teams can join.

It's a shame palace aren't part of that, no idea if we have any kind of route to be able to join..?

Anyone any info?
