There was some criticism of Pardew after selling Jedinak and giving the captaincy to Dann. However, it now looks like a good choice. Although not as 'talkative' as Jedi - Dann seems to be a good fit for Captain. It seems to have helped his form and he seems to be leading by example - which is something he and Pardew deserve credit for. Dann is our best player, in my opinion. I miss Jedi but it genuinely looks like we have moved on.

Timing was right for Jedinak to go, as were the terms. People only moaned because "anti-pardew" was popular at the time. Problem is, people, especially Palace fans, don't like change.

Dann seems pretty vocal to me and generally, those that scream and shout the most don't necessarily make the best captains/leaders.

Dann is a stand-out performer but as far as best players go, Jimmy Mac is that man in my opinion.

Dann, Jmmac and Benteke are all important players through the spine of the team who we will notice if we lose them. And you can add Zaha or Townsend too.

It's a shame we haven't got a real number 10 as that would be all lines up the pitch through the spine of the team. You could add Steve as well seeing as his distribution is a step up.

Funny, I saw a few uncharacteristic errors from Dann yesterday. I hope this is an adjustment to the role of wearing 2 hats? I don't want the extra weight to spoil his game. This is not that unusual a scenario.

As an aside, have we shifted from a team with a toothless attack but a solid stingy defence; to a formidable attack with a more porous defence? Losing Souare and Tomkins is far from ideal.

There's probably a whole thread on that point, isn't there?

Exactly what I was saying on Sunday. However if it has to be one or the other, having a better attack is much more fun to watch.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Pardew said he was sick at halftime. You could see him on TV bent over a couple of times (before I think Lee came on for one).
