It is a tough one to call. We all loved Yala, his tricks, the way he frightened defenders. But on yesterday's performance Townsend looked a genuine international class player. He is more functional and maybe does not look as exciting as Yala, but his delivery of crosses were so accurate, the cleverness of his passing was different class. We are slowly becoming a much more fluid passing team, a bit more like an Arsenal or Spurs style, and Townsend suits us better i think

Townsend did a couple of neat tricks yesterday and I nearly got a boner. It was like we'd swapped Bolasie for a better Bolasie. Not as many tricks maybe, but Townsend does have some flair and pace. Most importantly, the old cliché "end product" is much better with AT. That's not to say I don't have very fond memories of Yala and hope he does really well at Everton. But to replace Bolasie with Townsend and essentially a net gain of a several million quid taking this in and out in isolation, is starting to seem very positive.

Yes we all loved Yannick but Townsend is on a different level to him. He is comfortable on both feet fantastic delivery into the box and he is a more intelligent player too. He is pure quality. Wont be long before Fat Sam will be in the stand at Selhurst

Time will tell. Townsend played very well yesterday and if he keeps at that level, then yes he will be better (and more effective) than Bolasie was for us. Bolasie looks to be enjoying his move to Everton, so it might be a good move for both players.

As a wide Player, you need constiency. I agree townsend has more attributes than Bolasie to become a better player. You can't say his better after one game, time will tell.

No doubt for me that A.Townsend is a different class to Bolaise. Townsend is more intelligent as a footballer and his crossing is excellent and he can of course score goals. Excellent bit of business by the club in regards to both players.

Townsend showed before he came to us that he was a better player than Bolasie. Yala should aspire to have the consistency with the final ball that Andros provides...only then will it be a close call. To think we got Townsend for a net £3m (taking into account Gayles move) and then sold Yala for £27+ we now have a better player and an extra £24m+ in the bank... That is unbelievably good business!

I'd say a categorical yes. Love Yala, and wish him really well at Everton, but I'd say Townsend is a more complete player by quite a long way. That said, I don't know what they've been doing with him at Everton, but he seems to be whipping in some pretty decent crosses at the moment

Townsend is two-footed. He can cut in from the right-wing and score with his left-foot and as we saw yesterday he can cut in from the left and score with his right-foot from outside the area.He has also got an excellent free kick in his 'Locker'.In my humble estimation he is an all-round better player than Bolasie.

Townsend worked with international quality strikers and attacking midfielders and in Benteke has one here. Yannick and Wilf until now have never worked with that quality around them and have had to go above and beyond to make things happen.

Classic football fans As soon as a player leaves all we remember is his faults. Bolasie is still a terrific player and has made a very good start to life at Everton, 2 assists already and Lukaku and Barkley have both missed sitters off his crosses. Townsend has one (very) good game and he's suddenly a class apart from Bolasie? Not for me. Ask me after another 5 games.
