Palace 4th from bottom in the table with the team covering 429.7km so far this season. Below us are West Ham, Man Utd and Sunderland.

Would be interested to see the rankings for all of last season. Interested to know if running around a lot correlates with results over a longer period. If I had a fiver I'd bet it doesn't particularly correlate.

I certainly think we need more hard workers in the team, McArthur is the only one that runs about, Souare and Zaha probably have decent stats. Sometimes we lack a bit of energy, particularly in the last 20 minutes of games where we lost more than a few games last year.

Distance covered only really matters when you're not in possession of the ball tbh, as its these hard working units closing down that have a greater effect.

In possession you want players who let the ball do the work and can pass in between the lines, ensuring you move up the pitch quicker.

So unless they show distance covered in and out of possession its pretty meaningless.

agree. As well as possession it would be good to correlate it with number or short, medium and long passes to get a better picture of our playing style and how well it's working.

This maybe why Burnley are so high as they only had 20% percent possession against Liverpool but probably did a lot of chasing for the ball but Liverpool had the opposite so chased around with the ball.

Depends on your system doesn't it?

Klopp and Guardiola both play a very high pressing game which is why they are at the top.

Conte's teams are more rigid in their formation and structure so don't do as much chasing.
