There are quite a lot of us who do not think 4-4-2 formation works with us. If Remy had been fit this Saturday, Pardew probably would have played him up front with Benteke. Then Wilf probably would have been dropped to the bench and Punch played out wide which is not his best position anymore, he is better in the Number 10 role, even though he is not playing as well as he did two years ago. The injury to Remy means we will likely see Flamini playing with Jimmy Mac or Cabaye in the middle, or we have the option of moving Cabaye into the number 10 role and playing Jimmy Mac and Flamini behind. Joe Ledley of course could sit behind as well. All this would mean Wilf and Townsend can push up wide and frighten defences. To be honest i was more pleased we got Flamini. That was desperately needed

Cabaye is injured so not think he's playing on Saturday.

A fit Remy would have scored more than Wickham this season. The fact that we now only have Benteke and Wickham is not a good thing.

Really? A key player is injured and it's a blessing?

Yes its a blessing in disguise, some of his performances in training were superb though

Think we will forget the transfer for now!

Actually I think we are a better team without Cabaye and Remy. Feeling confident for Sat now

I agree 442, will not worked at palace imo with wilf on the wing as it leaves us weak defensively. Let's hope chungy form continues, I predict a big season for chungy.

Really!?
The lad works his nuts off compared to many (internationals) in his position in this league.

2 up front please as i'm bored to tears watching one man chasing lost causes and giving the oppositions defence an easy ride.

Well, Pardew has said he is going to change the way we play.

Looking at our record for 2016, I would say that something does need to change.

So...to what ? Are we just going to replace Wickham with Benteke as the one man up front ? Or are we going to be a bit more adventurous with a front 2 ?

Clearly when the 2 was Wickham and Benteke against Bournemouth for the first half, it didn't look pretty. But if Remy had stayed fit then I reckon AP would have gone with him and Benteke up front.

So potentially another re think called for...

Pardew is a nervous b****** and these injuries allow him to confidently slot puncheon behind the striker. If he fails to do this and we dont get lucky, things wont be looking up til next month.

Losing Remy is a big loss for us. Forget all you expert tacticians who clearly don't realise without goals you don't win.

Christ we haven't even seen Remy play for us yet and you've written him off already

Losing a striker is a disaster when scoring goals is our problem.

Cabeye at No 10 - did you watch a game in 2016?

The guy can't play this role anymore - he wants to drop deep, often leaving Jimmy Mac to try and support the strikers, which is not his best position.

we tried it again in the cup final and he was the worst player on the pitch.

Cabeye on paper was a great signing but other than a few nice touches he's not doing enough for me.

Not saying I wouldn't play him, just not as a No10
