A few years back it was trend to have a tall GK but seems now all the world's best current goalkeepers are all around 6ft including our own Mandanda. 192 David de Gea 6'4"

Some of the greats from yesteryear were not that tall. Dino Zoff was not 6ft and Peter Shilton and Gordon Banks were just 'north' of 6 ft. In this modern era more is required of goalkeepers. They have to be good with their feet in terms of their touch and distribution and have to distribute well with their hands to set-up attacks. And with the lighter ball which moves around, agility comes more into the equation.

At first I thought this was a new attraction where Hennesey sits on a perch all week somewhere in Kent, and then runs up and down the pitch on match days as our mascot in return for dead chicks I will definitely get my coat!
