Seriously wtf, Called into the England squad. Is this some kind of massive pi$$ take? Ignoring the fact he wasn't great for us, is it the FA's way of saying, you must leave Palace to play for England???

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Alex McCarthy called up to England Squad' by Penge Eagle hahaha give it a rest. potential is when you talk years not poxy weeks. a lot of mediocre players play for england FYI and even if he does turn into a world beater...is he currently better than mandanda or hennessy? now he can be 1st or 2nd keeper over there. look at the general picture and it'll all make more sense to you.

Stuff lie his baffles me...he has barely kicked a ball (or caught one) in the time he played for us. He may be phenomenal and have great potential etc...but how can Sam know that if he doesn't actually play?

Not to say I don't like WH but McCarthy is a keeper that will get better and from what I saw last season he was more than adequate as a a second choice to Mandanda.
