Prompted to write this thread by Steve (Schteve) McClaren on TV yesterday evening - must have really wound the Newcastle fans up to hear him pontificating on where they were going wrong!

My current favorites - Gary Neville (come back soon), Jamie Carragher

Worst, i.m.o. - McClaren, Andy Townsend, Trevor Francis

From the old days?

Best - Big Mal, Brian Clough

Worst - Alan Mullery!

How about yours?

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

Worst after Claridge are the two Alan's - Shearer and Hansen.
Souness and Gray pretty dire too.
Maybe Neville and Carragher best Duo as they have as they seem to have turned their club differences into differences of opinion and some decent banter.

All of the Presenters are probably worse than the pundits. Lineker is the only one I know the name of as the others are so rubbish I don't want to know their names.

Can't believe that either someone would choose Merson as the best or Souness as the worst.

Personal opinions obviously, but Hansen went on far too long and Lawrenson is now the worst out there. Deliberately cynical thinking it makes him sound cool.

For the best I think it is between Souness and Neville, although I think that Shearer has improved markedly over the last 12 months (he just needs to improve his delivery) and that Murphy is progressing as well.

I remember when ITV had the rights to the Premier League and Andy Townsend had a segment called the Tactics Truck. It was quite possibly the most horrific football-based analysis I've ever seen.

Not a pundit, but I find Clive Tyldesley nauseating. He probably still w***s furiously to the final 2 minutes of the Manchester United 1999 Champions League final - would always find a way to mention it, regardless of the match he was commentating on.

Since he became a regular, Souness has been consistently excellent: articulate, insightful and avoids resorting to cliché.

Not very keen on any of the present day 'experts'.

I did used to like Brian Moore.

All of the RTE ones are comedy gold. TV3 terrible. Hamman drunk and dishevelled springs to mind.

Anybody in England should really watch the RTE panel - anyone who hasn't seen it would probably be left in awe.
