I believe it's because we're not in the top tier of youth academies. This can't be good for our academy, surely they players are going to want to play for the youth teams in these two leagues. Edited by A89M (26 Jul 2016 3.39pm)

No promotion or relegation from league 2 either, so it looks like we're permanently excluded. Why have they done this to us? There had better be a good explanation for this, because it looks like the Premier League wants us and other less "fashionable" clubs (Bournemouth, Burnley, Hull and Watford) to quietly fade away to the FL and not come back. To add insult to injury they've let the weed in! Is there anything we can do about this? This is not a level playing field! Mods - should this be in Palace Talk? is it because we don't have a category 1 academy? Now I've spent a few minutes looking for it, I can confirm we do not have a category 1 academy. From the article the op posted a link to; "The 24 clubs involved each applied for 'Category One' status in the elite player performance plan and are made up of 15 Premier League sides and nine clubs from the Championship."
